Post

Thought I'd post these in a thread.
I now have 128 presets done for the Hive.

Updated on March 15th -> This is two sets now.
One folder labeled "mc Hive fx" makes use of all available effects.
The other folder labeled "mc Hive no fx" are completely dry sounds, no modulation effects, reverb, or delay. Some eq, compression, and distortion used for level adjustments only.
With the fx (effects) folder I left the basses without delay or reverb on, but they are adjusted for those patches, if you care to turn them on.

I appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks.
I'm really finished with this set now.

Moar wub wubs! I know you're not a fan of those, but on Urs's product page, he mentions dubstep as one of the genres Hive will be marketed to. On the positive side, I find doing a style you don't like personally is an opportunity to learn new ideas for future projects. As an example, I'm not that much into huge unison leads, but forcing myself to do it actually changed my attitude about that a bit. BTW, I really like your programming style, especially the basses and leads. What type of music are you mainly into?

I'm into a lot of different music.
I regularly listen to alternative rock.
I like the depressing angst ridden anger management type of rock.
That said, my synth influences mostly come from what used to be called New Age music.
Patrick O'Hearn, Stephen Roach, Suzanne Ciani, and similar.
Jazz fusion like Chick Corea's Elektric Band, Steve Morse, and the progressive rock of the 70's.
I do like psy trance...though not for consistently listening to. I like the diversity of alternative rock, as I'm originally a guitar player.

As far as doing sounds for genres that don't really interest me, and still making sounds for them.
I've said the same thing a few times on kvr. I agree. I actually do have quite a bit of EDM sounds in my soundset for Hive. I just think it's better to get the basic sounds, and let the EDM producer add the effects, and make them into something new, using their daw features, knob assignments, and automation. That's why I prefer not using any effects. Let the users decide on effects is best imo.

Note: I added sounds, and tweaked older sounds in this. The older sounds I tweaked were mostly Modwheel, Aftertouch, setting, and effects settings.

Here's some audio clips of some of the new sounds included in this latest update.
(except the first bass sound in this track, which I just did after posting the 88 zip)
Note that some of the sounds which have distortion do not use the Hive distortion effect, but are just the natural distortion from high resonance settings in Dirty mode.

Just updated my Hive sounds.
Got rid of some sounds that were not useful variations, and added new ones.
Updated some of the effects parts, and modwheel settings.
These new sounds called BASS Crab and Crib are pretty cool because they do that talking bass thing.
There's also a similar lead sound called LD MN Crub that does that same thing, as they are all variants of the same patch, but sound different.
I also added a PAD Modern sound, and a great BRASS Elephant sound.
All very modern sounding sounds imo. There's also some ARP patch which is kinda lame, but I'm not really liking the arp-seq part of the synth atm. Still learning how to make it do things.

Let me know if you like any of these.

You have a lot of cool sounds, I have some Hive presets, mostly leads though, your sounds sound good
I think everyone should share some patches and maybe the actual factory programmers can take a hint
at how people already use hive, your basses sound so bassy but an 80s kind of bassy.

cool thank you

Thank you, sir, for the Hive presets!

Also a big fan here of Steve Roach, Patrick O'Hearn, and Suzanne Ciani!
