MicroRhythm on the C64 was the thing that got me hooked on music making, there was only a handful of samples to chooose from, but they could be tuned, and you could write songs by stringing bars together, so some pretty nice results could be had

a Radio Shack TRS-80 "Color" Computer - with 8 colors you could use!
later got it "extended" to get something like 256 colors and better graphics resolution
got a cartridge that let you program polyphonic music using text
Later got an Amiga 1000 and Music Studio (enter notes on a staff) with MIDI, and something called Dynamic Studio which was an early sequencer program with MIDI I hooked up to my Yamaha DX27S keyboard (had a piano roll, quantization, a drum machine and a few other goodies)
Good times

My first was an Apple //e, purchased in 1982 or 1983. But I started on the Commodore PET and CBM computers we had in school somewhere around 1979-80.
I still have a Commodore CBM and two C-64's in my garage!
