SO I am considering gettig a new delay, I use Live includedd ones (filter delay, simple delay, ping pong delay) and the 201 emulation in the Dubmachines pack.

So ai am looking for something differente with more control over taps, repeats, panning and so on.

I can't demo replicant but I like a lot the feature set, a lot of control over repeats.

Ubermod I love it's sounds but seems to me hard to sue it for "simple" stuff, its gets out of hand easily.

So what would you choose between these two?

I would say neither as a general delay plugin, and recommend this instead while more or less still keeping within your budget.

I've been playing around with the demo for PSP 85 and 608 as well as some other highly rated, non-iLok, non UAD card-required. I have Fabfilter Timeless, but it's just not intuitive. I really need to spend more time on it as it's got great functionality, but regarding delays and modulating those delays, it's just not jiving with me.

Anyways, I really like the 85 from PSP. Lots of functionality, great sound and great ease of use. Their regular echo is nice as well. (based on videos I watched) It's not overly cheap though. I'll likely hold off on this for a bit due to the price. I also looked at Tal Dub-2. I really like TAL Dub-2. It's great at emulating analog delays. Best of all, it's free.

Replicant is a lot more than a simple delay. It is great at chopping up things in to bits. If your goal is just a delay, check out Dubstation (also from Audio Damage). It is pretty great. I'm also a big fan of FabFilter stuff, so have to recommend Timeless.

I do have to say that I've not yet used Ubermod .. although it is on my shopping list. =]

A couple others worth mentioning:
fxpansion - Bloom
unfiltered audio - sandman

A couple nice free ones:
Stagecraft Software - SC Delay
KResearch - KR-Delay FS

Here is a playlist with ÜberMod experiments I did over the last years - sounds say more than a 1000 words:

and some Replika video jams I made when it was released around Christmas:

EDIT: sorry, I got confused and mixed up Replikant with Replika.

I completely forgot about Replika! Definitely worth mentioning, too. However, I think the OP was referring to Audio Damage's Replicant?

If you want to try a free multitap option then Try Tonecarver's Delay 8. It's in the same sort of area as Ubermod, not quite as easy to use though.

I love Ubermod for multitap options. Replicant sounds a little different.

I have Ubermod and Replicant, and I wouldn't really say they are comparable. Replicant is more of a glitch/ chopper plug. AD Richochet is a more "conventional" multi-tap delay, with lots of control over filtering, etc ... fiddly interface tho'.

I'm very fond of their Dubstation bucket brigade delay and Dr.Device filter / delay combo. They often turn up in the marketplace for around half price ...

But why do you want it for simple stuff when you have all those other delays that cover simple stuff just fine. I think it's a good addition for the weird stuff.

All good products listed here. I want to add another one : tkDelay from http://www.tritik.com/

Let's add Sandman too ...

I think I want a delay that does different things to Live's native ones, but that is not super specialized, easy to dial stuff .

I have Replika but when it was launched it crashed Live, I may have to test it again, but I was more looking to more stuff.

Ubermad has multitaps aand I like that, it's just that I am not 100% set on it. Replicant seems really interesting for manupulating the repeats behaviour, no demo which makes it harder.

testing bloom and sandman right now.

If you want a lot of control look at the PSP 608 - that has a numbe rof taps that have individual feeback, filter and pan controls.

Thought about the comment about having control over the taps and remembered u-he's MFM. Might be worth a look, OP.

Had to give that one a try myself. Very nice sound, easy to use. Nice pricetag too. Think I'll add it to my shopping list. :tu:
