Question about Monarch and Reaktor

So, I have a question. I've heard that Monarch uses "locked" Reactor modules, which is why any schlub on the street with a Reaktor license can't replicate it.
But what if you own Monarch? Do you then have the ability to use those modules? For instance, could you take a very digital style of Reaktor instrument and replace it's filters with Monarch's? If it's possible, has anyone tried this?

In short, no, it's not possible.zerocrossing wrote:So, I have a question. I've heard that Monarch uses "locked" Reactor modules, which is why any schlub on the street with a Reaktor license can't replicate it.

Hm. That kind of blows. It's like buying a cool new Lego set but the Micromanagers won't let you build anything but what the instructions say it should be.wagtunes wrote:In short, no, it's not possible.zerocrossing wrote:So, I have a question. Ummm... Is it just me, or does it seem like this line of thinking, if handled correctly by NI, could lead to a really really amazing new paradigm for the Reaktor platform.... ???

Yes it is possible but there are limitations in doing so because of the way they locked multiple core cell features together in the filter module. You won't be able to simply drop it in place in the signal chain...

It is possible to use e.g. the monark filter in other ensembles.
A while ago i had started a thread about that:

You are not allowed to redistribute the Monark modules which is why i did not include those in the ensembles i published but gave screenshots about how to connect it.

This starts to get into an ethical area that I don't like crossing. Saying you can't distribute something you know will not stop some people. So why tempt fate? It's a lot easier to just say it's not possible as you don't know what somebody's intentions are.
Personally, I think NI screwed the pooch on this one. I won't get into the reasons why because I don't want to derail this thread. But the whole Monark in Reaktor thing was just handled all wrong.
And that's all I'm going to say on the subject.

I don't understand why you'd think it's not ethical. Is it against the ULA? If not, then who cares about distrubuting it? I didn't mention that. I just wanted to know if it could be done. Though, I don't understand why you couldn't distribute it if it was only usable by people who own a Monarch license. I agree that NI is missing a very cool possibility that might generate even more money with them not really having to do anything.wagtunes wrote:Which is why I said "in short, no, it's not possible."Ingonator wrote:It is possible to use e.g. the monark filter in other ensembles.
