Whether it is Presswerk or the compressor/limiter that came with my CubaseLE4 (which I stopped using since I bought Presswerk), I always get the best results by picking the "optimum" (to my abilities) compressor setting for a given track (I don't add compressor to every track), and not add any master buss compression (when I try that it always sounds worse to me). Is there any typical procedure for pro audio engineers, or strategies vary all over the place or ??? In my opinion, with the loudness wars taking places in recent years, some mixes are overly compressed, and I find it quickly fatiguing.
