I've noticed that when I have many tracks in an edit then the CPU usage shows a number greater than 100% for Audio File Reading (see attachment) and I have a lot of clicks and glitches unless I set my sound card latency very high. This occurs even when most of the tracks are muted. I wonder if Tracktion still hits the disk for clips on muted tracks?
I'm on Tracktion 5.4.3 on a somewhat underpowered Windows XP, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core, 2.1 GHz.
Performance and disk overload

I just tested it again with different settings.
ASIO and WindowsSound did not work well.
With DirectSound and a high buffer settings it works more proper but not very good.
Also still with DirectSound drop-outs and glitches appear.
