I've been using SoftDrum LTD from Fretted Synth to trigger drum samples in Reaper (Windows 64bit) but am wondering if there is a similar plugin that can assign more velocity layer samples to each pad. I have some snare libraries that have over a dozen samples per snare, but my plugin can only trigger 4 of them. I'm happy with the sample library I have, I just want a plugin that can make better use of them. SoftDrum gives each pad on my e-drum kit (which I'm using to trigger the samples) 4 samples, which sounds pretty good, but I'm wondering if there is an alternative free plugin out there that can accommodate more layers.

Thanks, and I hope that made sense -- I'm new to this!

not free but " one small clue poise " can do this $49 , and for free Reapers reasamplomatic5000 should be able to do that now as well , haven't tried it but had heard it was upgraded to do this now .

Thanks for the suggestions. $49 isn't much compared to the $100-200 for a lot of the big name drum software (which seems like it's largely paying for sample libraries). Reasamplomatic5000 is hard to wrap my brain around for a newbie like me, but I'll see if I can figure it out. Thanks! And keep the suggestions coming if there are other free options!

TX16Wx offers a fully capable free version and a fairly cheap commercial version with added extras. http://www.tx16wx.com/ They also have a forum here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=213 It's a "generic" sampler, not targeted at drums specifically, but that just means it's just as good with drums as with other instruments.

The samples and mappings from SM Drums are well worth checking out, not only that they're top-notch quality but they come in SFZ and in the native formats of TX16Wx and Reasamplomatic. See here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 2&t=433571

TX16Wx seems perfect. Thanks a ton!

I'm a fan of short circuit myself.
