G-Dock for sample library storage?

I just posted this in the "Samples" forum but it might be more appropriate on this forum...

I'm thinking of transferring all my sample libraries (Komplete, Albion, Morphestra, Superior drummer etc etc)to an external drive, which I've heard gives better performance.

I've also heard that it's better to have all your projects on a separate drive too and so I'm thinking of getting a second external drive for that too.

I've seen the G-Dock can have two separate drives that link via a single Thunderbolt cable, which is attractive to me as I use a Mac mini and would like to minimise the amount of ports taken up.

However, I've heard that the "Thunderbolt" speed isn't realised with this setup so I'm unsure if it would improve the performance significantly over having the sample libraries and projects on my internal drive.

Does anyone use this G-dock for sample storage and streaming? Can anyone tell me definitively if it will improve performance?

If not, can anyone recommend a similar setup?
