Very fun.windsongstudio wrote:Weekend creation using a half dozen Omni2 instances:
Not to nitpick about semantics, but I assume you're just using one instance of Omnisphere, but are using it in Multi Mode (or whatever it is called), with six different sounds loaded into six of the eight parts?

Thanks for the kind words, rustman and RLSguitar.
Note to mwalthius: I used 6 or 7 instances (not multi mode) of Omni2 in LPX on 4 yr old Mac... Was a test case to see CPU load, etc. no problems. Very reasonable. No freezing or bouncing during session. Pleasantly surprised. Omni1 has been one of my GoTo synths forever and Omni2 does not disappoint. Regards.

I just got around to checking out the Radio Delay on Omni 1 last night. I like that. Can't wait to check out the new stuff. Honestly, there's plenty there that I've not touched in v.1 that awaits. I just find that there are so many cool sounds in the psychoacoustic category that beg to be played for a few minutes to get the real picture. I have most every other major synth but when I feel compelled to open Omnisphere, I ususally find something unique. Yes, I made a song using the burning piano. I'd be wrong not to. I love smoked steel too.

No, not at all. But I think 'commercial' music has become a bit of a grey area of late if you take UK and especially US releases...a lot of heart-felt, self-indulgent rubbish going on that to me borders on indi artist posing as commercial. John Legend for example, his latest song he just wails over a piano, there's no recognizable hook, its not memorable enough to classed as commercial yet its on the charts so it must be. Bruno Mars..soulful, cheesy funk that's completely dated which to me isn't commercial for that reason. A lot of em using horns and tenor saxes, like the Taylor Swifts trying to cash in on the new Neo- Motown vibe. The only ones doing anything inventive with sound at a commercial level are the Asians. Everyone else just plays it safe. So, not all commercial music has harsh sound. But is it really commercial in the current sense, or just recycled throwbacks of yesteryear?basslinemaster wrote:Really? I don't think so... The harsh sounds have never been in vogue, and never will be. I like more types of music than anybody I know, (most of whom only 'like' one or two types, i.e. they don't actually like music, but think they'd better pretend to, because they see everybody else pretending too), but I still hate dubstep, and I still hate those harsh sounds that so many Massive preset packs have. Are you suggesting that ALL commercial music (which I don't write, by the way, I'm not that good) contains harsh sounds?

I finally got my hands on it at my friend's house. Wow.
He just built a new computer with new dual 27" monitors, and he uses the same daw, so the whole experience was figuratively in IMAX.
I doubt we went through 50 new presets, but I badgered him enough to groove lock RMX (just 8 bars) to both envelopes & arps and lock them as we pressed on. He saved 2 as projects.
Unreal. If people were kvetching about not being able to use the fx outside of ver1, they're going to be screaming now - very weird new stuff in there - and we just kind of stared blankly at each other. The Orb is on steroids now.
I largely was looking forward to this update because of the ease of use with an already over-stuffed library, but it's much more than that.
I'm the last guy in the world Spectrasonics needs to impress, but I was not expecting my reaction at all.
It may not be the jolt I got when I first bought Omnisphere, but I have the same feeling.

when i said desktop i meant from folders that are placed on the harddrive. Works for me on my Mac at least, running Mavericks.
Havent tried any other sampling rates but 44,1 though.

Working fine here on a 48k WAV - W7 64 bit pro, dragging from a regular windows folder into a Cubase instance of Omni 2 (project itself set to 44.1).Kinh wrote:Should also work from folders too but doesn't. wont recognize 48khz files.
