Rapture Pro- missing samples and missing entire libraries.

I posted it on very friendly Cakewalk users’ forum and nobody had any solution to offer, so I sent it to the Cakewalk tech support but did not hear from them yet as it is weekend. Thought somebody here can have good suggestions on how to fix it. If not- I wanted to share this experience to make others aware that such scenario can be expected.

I installed the Rapture Pro from Command Center. I find that the entire libraries I installed today such as Orchestral Content pack, Analog Content pack and so on are missing. I did not install the Legacy Packs because it was supposed to populate itself from previous Rapture and Dem Pro installation.

1) The Content Packs are all missing. The only Content Pack that shows up in the Browser is the Gibson Content Pack
2) The Gibson Content Pack shows in the browser and has program names but apparently missing all samples because all programs are silent
3) Rapture (old version) factory is missing
4). There is no Dimension Pro Factory library
5). Legacy Dimension Pro expansion plays some programs but missing others. I cannot figure out the system as it has categories, called "expansion pack 1, 2 and 3". Pack 3 has samples, while pack 1 and 2 does not play. And these are not 3rd party that I ever bought- I never bought any Dimension expansions so it must of come with Sonar installation or Rapture Pro. If you go from the top of the list, there 25 categories of sounds- they all not working. Then it has "Digital Sound Factory: Symphonic..."- those program group is working. Dimension Pro Holiday Pack is working. Expansion pack 1 does not work, Expansion Pack 2 does not work all the way up to Guitars, but then "Leads and Keys" and "Orchestral" are working and right next to it "Organs" category is missing about every other sample.

I did not reinstall Dimension Pro that came with Sonar Platinum- I am using old installation from Sonar X3. Do I need to uninstall D-Pro and reinstall from CCC?
I used F5 to refresh and it did not help much. I installed all the libraries at the same time on H drive (not C) and it is not working. I also have 3rd party expansions for Rapture- surprisingly they show under " Expansion Pack: Rapture Legacy". This is a big mass. Hope you can tell me how to make it work. Thanks.

From Rapture Pro FAQ:
Will Dimension Pro and Rapture Classic factory content be available in Rapture Pro?
Yes. Just like expansion packs, all factory content from Dimension Pro and Rapture Classic that was installed before Rapture Pro will be automatically migrated.
Note that the Legacy Content Packs Vol 1–3 included with Rapture Pro contain the Dimension Pro and Rapture Classic factory content. If Rapture Pro is being installed fresh, Dimension Pro and Rapture Classic factory content is available in these packs.

I wouldn't call my installation a disaster, but I am missing a lot of samples/presets also (one example is the orchestral timpani). I really hope they address this.
I installed from the command center and all of my packs have a green light; although, after the install a strange message appeared in a warning box stating that something (don't remember what) couldn't be installed.
Anyhow, other than the missing bits I have not had any other issues. Actually what is there is some of the best sounding stuff I've heard, way impressed here. I'm about to start it up for a session right now.
I'm using this with Live 9.1.8 and a windows 8 laptop.

Thanks for sharing. I heard from Cake support and was told that I need to edit the path in the registry edit to make everything show up. I am skeptical but will look in to it.

I don't have Rapture Pro and may have reached a point where I won't any time soon.

But this is something that has happened with almost every soundset installation Rapture and Dimension Pro I've done. CW has responded in the past, but mostly their suggestions have done little to nothing to correct this.

What I have discovered is that for some reason, during the install it will put most of the samples where they're suppose to go while putting others in some other non-associated folder or leaving them in the original expanded folder where the "install.exe" originates from.

This means changing the registry path won't fix it (unless of course it's missing ALL files).

The easiest way I've figured out to correct this (and its worked every time), is to let it tell you it's missing a file and then do a file search on that one specifically. Each time it will show you where the install has put those few and you can move them over manually to the folder the rest are being read from correctly. To date, one search for each install and a manual move has fixed that installation.
And don't forget to hit F5 in the browser to refresh once you re-open the synth after doing this.

Like I said, I don't know if it will work the same with the Pro version, but thought it might at least give you something to try while waiting on CW.

Good Luck.

First of all, I must say I am getting prompt and continuous contact from the Cakewalk support team about this issue.
However I am not sure the support specialists understands my question. "Should I see the Expansion packs listed as separate banks?" I have Rapture Pro, D-Pro, D-Pro User imported, and even my E-mu Proteus expansions listed as separate banks. But I do not see the Gibson, Analog and other expansions packs listed as separate banks. It seems my expansion banks are embedded within my Rapture Pro Banks/Type/Program because my Rapture Pro folder within my PC is about the same size as all the expansions combined.
Also Rapture session originally listed the Poly Synth Bank (After the recent update). But after re-installing Rapture Pro, this bank disappeared from my Rapture session????

Does anyone know "Should I see the Expansion packs listed as separate banks?"

Or perhaps I should just move on and use Omnisphere.

I had lots of problems getting to see expansion packs in Rapture Session.

What solved the problem for me was that I needed to run the plug as administrator. Then the expansion packs surfaced in the Rapture Session browser.

Here is the astounding response I received fro Cakewalk. This guy has shown clear lack of technical skills to be supporting this product:

"To be honest i don't know if there is a picture supposed to show up or not coz i don't have this bank to try. What i propose is to download again if it is not too heavy and re-install.

Please let me know how it goes.

Well Nathan, somebody's trying to help you sort out a problem and you feel it is appropriate to insult them on a public forum? Particularly if you refer to a lack of technical skills which you also clearly lack.

Have you tried what Numanoid suggested?

Have you tried asking in the Cakewalk forum rather than just whinging there?

it is possible to bundle samples to the fxp files. the the sound is stored within the patch and no further libraries are nescessary. other companies do this

This is an edit as I have had a great deal of effort by Cakewalk to help me out. It did not seem to be any ones fault and all of us tried many solutions. In the end I received a zip file that solved all my issues. I was to quick to jump to negative conclusions and need to give Cakewalk Kudos for the suppott.

On Thu Feb 09, 2017 6:46 pm I posted a rather negative comment regarding the support skill offered by Cakewalk. The tech working with me handed my case to another tech. I am not sure if the subsequent response was from that hand over or to my re-posting the issue with Cakewalk as a new case. The new tech worked with me almost every day asking for screen shots and suggesting solutions. This issue was not a lack of skill on anyone's part (mine or Cakewalks) but I was impressed with the diligence that the tech demonstrated to solve this issue over the three week period. He even consulted other techs to brainstorm on solutions. In the end Cakewalk sent a zip file that solved the issue. Kudos to Cakewalk for the support and shame on me for my negative attitude.

Packages of Rapture Pro are all installed in a folder that usually is the root of the system HD, called Cakewalk Content. I didn't try, but I think you can change this in Cakewalk Control Center (CCC). If you click in the Cog Wheel, you have access to a tab called "Paths" where you define the Plug-Ins folders for 32-bit and 64-bit plug-ins, the Download Path and the Content Path (it's this one you'll want to edit).

DO THIS BEFORE STARTING DOWNLOAD ANYTHING. If you do this after installing some libraries, the paths where those were installed will be lost.

Inside the AM "Cakewalk Content" folder, you have a folder called Rapture Pro, where all the programas go, and another folder called Cakewalk Sample Data. Inside this folder, you should have a folder called Rapture Pro.

THIS LAST FOLDER is where all samples for Rapture Pro go. And yes, you have to install everything, including the Dimension Pro and Rapture libraries, because the sample paths used by those two are not the same (and the programs, obviously, neither). The samples used by Rapture Pro are not used by Dimension Pro nor Rapture (these two use older installers, and the samples have pre-defined folders that, AFAIK, cannot be changed - excpet maybe by messing with the registry).

My "Multisamples" folder for Rapture Pro has 9.74 GB distributed by 92 sub-folders, besides 262 files in the the main folder. Check your installation, and if it's not like this, better uninstall everything and start over. This time, download ALL the libraries (D-Pro Part 1, D-Pro Part 2, Rapture Classic, Atmospheric, Guitar and Bass, Keys, Orchestral, Percussion, Sound FX, Synths, World Instruments).

Despite seeing a pile of nightmare stories, I went ahead and bought Rapture Pro, to replace my aging Rapture.

I downloaded and installed EVERYTHING, letting it install in the default locations. Then, once everything was installed, I ran the standalone - and lo, it had found all my old Rapture libraries!

I had expected to spend all weekend fixing thoings, but I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Not like I'm complaining!!!

So far so good.. fingers crossed.

I hope everyone having issues gets it working, it's not a bad synth at all and the libraries that come with it are more than passable.

The key is- you installed in default location. When I created this thread, it was time of release- May, 2015. At that time they had registry keys pointing to default samples location and if you installed samples folder on another drive, the software was not able to find them. I had to go in to RegEdit and manually change the pathways for the samples. I believe it has been addressed.

Ok, ouch! That would be an issue for sure...

I always try to wait on first releases, there's usally a joker in the deck somewhere.
