Guys I am new to Omnisphere 2

How do I even purchase it? I go to the omnisphere site and it links me to another link when I select my country...

Is there way I can just pay via paypal get a download link or does it ONLY ship with the box?

Is it CDs or a USB? Is there a way for omnisphere to be only on the usb and I use it when the usb is plugged in? I don't want it to take up 64 gb on my hard drive.

Thanks.

The full version of Omnisphere must be purchased as a physical box. It contains a number of DVDs (mine is a bit older and has six).

There will likely be a refresh of the boxed product to v2 in the near future. For now you will have to purchase v1, contact support for the grace period free upgrade to v2 and then download the 18GB update.

Eric mentioned the possibility of a USB installer in the future but as far as I know it doesn't exist today. If you don't have a DVD drive on your PC/Mac you can always email support asking for an alternative install option.

Running the STEAM library off of USB would be slow. I have it on an SSD drive and some of the new Omni 2 sound sources still take up to 10 seconds to load fully because they are huge. Switching presets could take a lot longer on USB, especially USB 2. Another issue that could cause problems is if you use Windows and the drive letter assigned to the USB device changes. The plugin won't know where the library is located.

Each video is about five minutes, and demos about 10-12 Omnisphere 2 presets.
Really great stuff there! Best demo of Omni 2 I've heard yet. I've been avoiding Omni as I'm still working through the Komplete synths and Alchemy, but I'm thinking it's time to get on the bandwagon now. Since the shock of the Camel sale to Apple, I think it makes sense to buy from companies that will be there for the long term. I believe Spectrasonics will be one of those.

You too? I was listening to Rush and Yes while classmates were into Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, etc. Never went to a single party in high school. Teenager and my favorite TV show was thirtysomething. Actually, I don't think I ever really was a teenager. Grrrrr!

So, regarding the new wavetables, I'm assuming some of them are designed to do dramatic wave scans (i.e. the kind of radical wave shifts previously associated with synths like PPG's/Microwaves)? The answer might be somewhere in the dozens of pages of posts already written about O2 but given that I've already been a cranky old man for three decades, I don't have time to read them all, since I'll be dead soon.

This time last year I'm sure that most people would have thought that Camel Audio would "be there for the long term". :dog: Eric could sell out to Apple tomorrow if they offered him enough money. Buy software for what is can do right NOW, and don't count on what it may be able to do later. :tu:

I'm surprised Omni2 doesn't use aftertouch in any of the new presets....or have I just not heard them yet?

Good question.

I am personally not a huge fan of aftertouch, and the keyboards I use tend to not have it. But I believe that Omnisphere supports polyphonic aftertouch.

Just for fun, I should try playing Omnisphere with my Virus TI and the aftertouch enabled.

If you don't have a DVD drive I think you're stuck right now. If it's a Mac you can use remote DVD sharing with another Mac that has a DVD drive.

Several companies also sell USB DVD drives. I have no idea if they are compatible with your laptop though. You'll have to read more to find out.

You can also try contacting Spectrasonics support and asking when the USB installer option is available. At the very least let them know a potential customer can't buy because of their distribution options.

What exactly is a usb dvd drive? Is that the USB where I can stick into my laptop and omnisphere will work? Ideally I don't want to install 64 gb onto my hard drive.

My laptop is a late 2013 mbp retina with no dvd drive.

Really loving the Aux racks... being able to do a Pre/Post send from A/B/Common effects is awesome.... Love setting up some crazy spacial innerspace effects on Aux and routing things to it to add an interesting spacial element to my patches.

USB DVD drive: http://www.newegg.com/External-CD-DVD-B ... ory/ID-420

$25-$30 for basic model.

As for install... if you don't want to install to internal drive, you could (MAY BE ABLE TO) install to one of these bad boys: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product

I have a few of those PNY thumb drives... they're pretty fast... question is: can you point Omni at an external drive for content?
You need to limit that rez, bro.
