Jbridge and Cubase 8

I've been having trouble getting cubase 8 stable since installing it and it turns out I had quite a few issues that needed handling. Now that I have them handled the only thing that is still giving me trouble is Jbridge. I get multiple crashes a day when arming or disarming a track that has a jbridged plugin on it. All the crashes list bridger64.dll as the fault module.

So I am wondering if this is an issue here or if Jbridge is having trouble with the new way steinberg is handling buffers with asioguard. Is anybody here successfully using lots of jbridged plugins with no problems and if so were there settings that needed adjusting in order to get it that way? Should I just try the cubase bridge and see if that will run my plugins more stably?

Any and all advice would be much appreciated.

What version of jBridge are you using? I realized a while ago (after using 1.5 for the longest) that there's a 1.65 out. I didn't even know about it.

Do you really need jBridge with Cubase 8 at all?

Recently i was using a few 32-bit VST2 plugins using the built-in bridge of Cubase 8.0.5 64-bit. This also includes the now discontinued DNR WaveDesigner plugin (i still use this for creating my own single cycle waveforms using the mathematical formula editor). This plugin was discontinued before a 64-bit plugin was released.

I've not had any issue with JBridge in C8 so far.

I've not tried their native bridger, but definitely give it a shot if you are having issue with JBridge.

I use JBridge since I use a couple of DAWs so need a bridger for both.

Just a chime in of an alternate solution to using all your 32 bit VSTi's & plugs ins. You can also use them on separate computer to run them on via some kind of networking ....Ethernet solutions like FX-Max or Vienna Ensemble Pro, good old fashion audio/midi sound card networking, or Cubase's own VST System Link...which you don't need the latest nor full Cubase version to use.

I'll make sure I have the latest version of jbridge. If that doesn't help I'll try the native bridge. Mostly I think I'm just gonna start phasing out all the old 32 but plugins I still use.

You have to run 1.71b with Cubase 8 I think:

jBridge 1.71b ( changes from v1.65c):

– Several minor crash / bug fixes.
– experimental audioMasterSetTime implementation.
– experimental speed improvements in some IPC structures.
– fixed an issue where bridging files would not be loaded when using Band In A Box.
– compatibility fixes for Cubase 8.

I wonder why I never receive any e-mail alerting me on new jBridge versions. I was still thinking that 1.65c was the latest version.

Likewise! Not that i've had an issue, but will update anyway.

v1.65c is still the release version, v1.71b is a beta version. :-)

Both should work OK in most cases with Cubase 8, I just added few extra compatibility tweaks for some specific plugin/host combinations in v1.71b, so unless you're experiencing any problem, you won't see any improvement in switching from v1.65c to v1.71b. ;)

What needs to be ascertained here I think is just what "Bridger64.dll" actually is.
I don't think it is anything to do with JBridge as I am seeing this file causing crashes in various places and some of these reports do not have JBridge installed.
Can anyone find out what this file actually gets installed with?

Hi!

Bridger64.dll is part of jBridge, could you detail more about how does this crash happens?

Thanks.

I don't have any problems with the jbridge at all in Cubase 8 . Quite funny i switch off asio guard ALL the time and additionally the asio guard tells me , he is not working on high latencies .

To be fair, I never had any issue with 1.6 with Cuabse8. Did hit a wall with one plugin and contact J', fast resposne and solved itself quick enough.

Do remember to run jBridge with admin rights in Windows and likewise for any hosts.
