You've probably heard this one at some point. It's included in FLStudio's legacy sample pack. Its use is especially prominent in music from the 90's. What I want to know is where does it even come from in the first place? Some CD/AKAI sample library? Some workstation from Yamaha or Korg?

Good question!

You could find that in just about any romper from 80's/ 90's. roland jv series did this real well.
A keyboard mag reviewer said the on in korg wave station was good. I think the ensonic ASR 10
had a good one. East west goliath has some good distorted guitar samples.

I found it. It's the Power Trip patch on the Roland JV1080
