Errol Brown, lead singer of Hot Chocolate, has died of liver cancer at his home in the Bahamas. He "had at least one hit every year between 1970 and 1984, making Hot Chocolate the only group in the UK to have a hit for 15 consecutive years," and was awarded an MBE in 2003.

Never liked their music but he did have a great voice and a lot of charisma on stage, and always seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

RIP - they had quite a few hits here too, and some of them were pretty big hits.
That 'fact' just doesn't seem right, so I looked up a few bands that I would have thought had done that or done better.
Two minutes of quick research confirmed that Queen, The Rolling Stones and Status Quo all achieve this or better. What is wrong with journalists these days?
Is it me or has the quality of the BBC gone down in the past few years?garryknight wrote: "... the only group in the UK to have a hit for 15 consecutive years,"

I guess they mean an uninterrupted sequence from 70-84. None of the bands you mention have a continuous sequence of hits this long, at least according to Wikipedia.Deep Purple wrote:Two minutes of quick research confirmed that Queen, The Rolling Stones and Status Quo all achieve this or better. I've never been a huge fan but this one has a fantastic chorus: It Started With a Kiss. Listen out for that flutey-sounding synth.
