my kid wants to play seven nation army, but he's only got £23.45 in his piggy-bank.
i've been looking and it seems there's a few behringer ones or joyo? with varying results.
thought i'd ask if anyone has got any good results with these cheapies?

Post

I've not played any of the cheapo pedals but, if you don't mind secondhand on eBay, I'd look out for one of the Digitech RP multifx boxes. If you keep an eye out, you'll get one pretty cheaply and the FX (and modelling) are pertty decent. I bought an RP250 ages ago just for its cut down Whammy effect but I've used it quite a bit for other things.

Probably not answered your question but...

Post

thanks,i hadn't thought of multis.

buy a digitech iStomp pedal.
gives you access to 47 different pedals you can download into it for free from the iStomp app.
there's a couple of octavers in there.
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

there's also the Zoom multistomp ms-50g that lets you...too much ...just check it out on youtube.

Have you thought about DIY kits? Might be a good opportunity to learn some other skills at the same time.
Sweet child in time...

Just stay away from the grey Behringer one. It sucks at tracking and spits weird noises all the time. I actually thought mine was broken when I got it and was about to send it back for replacement but then I found many other guys on the internet with the same experience as mine so I guess that's the normal operation of the pedal.

:tu: thanks for the tips guys..but i just got a danelectro chili dog for 15 quid on ebay, not much info,so i almost missed it.
fingers crossed its working.

(diy is tempting but time is scarce)

Maybe look for a Danelectro Chili Dog off ebay. Used to be able to get those pedals for £20-£30 new

my other modular synth is a bugbrand

Image here's what we've got so far...his jack white inspired set-up.

(thanks for the tips,i'm getting quite into it now)
single 1-job pedals are the way to go for an 8 yr old though,it keeps it simple for him.
we need a hot mushroom and a bad monkey next.... :band2:

you need a short scale bass ;)
have a great little Satellite short bass i picked up in the market
many years ago for 20 quid. that could probably do with an octaver.
same size as a guitar, with 4 bass strings.

mention for: Zoom 1204 1u rack, can be found very cheap, has fun
pitchshift among other things, and MIDI with presets, eg: program
changes - probably identical to the old 1201, which you can find for
40quid.(dunno what people think of these...?). probably also has
footswitch round back

I believe some of the Behringer stuff is reliant on a decent input signal, so if your guitar is quiet you need a bit of pre amp before the pedal.

I use the Behringer Harmoniser for octave stuff and its fine withe my various guitars and basses.
Also the bass synth pedal works well for me
Amazon: why not use an alternative

he does seem interested in bass, but he's lucky someone gave him an electric really.
and we are broke now.
but the chilli dog is cool, but limiting.
and octave up might have been more fun.
ever since we watched a jimi hendrix doc he's been keen.
he's picked it up surprisingly quickly, taught himself bar chords.
trying to play with his teeth yesterday!
pissing off his brother and mum though.hehe.

get him into this:
(once he's got the idea of scales in regular box positions)
e pentatonic minor 'diagonal'

cool to start on an electric.

this is good bcs it teaches how to get around the fret board. if you tell him
to go and find all the 'e's he can play, he'll be able to figure it out and apply
it once he knows these patterns. (for what little i can offer!)
