Absolutely right!
Thank you all for answers, i like programming synths. I'll try Zebra 2 demo.

I did tried to get in the hype of Serum, but i just dont like the sound. Its too bright and too clean for me. Whenever i open zebra 2 (just a demo) im always pleased by the sound, but that is with every U-He synth, they just sound alive. I would get every U-He synth instead and get rid of Serum :D

If you like programming synths, then Zebra is a dream...

I've found nothing more fun and satisfying as far as sonic power and quality vs ease of use. And of course, you get a synth that keeps being developed in smart and useful ways. You already know Zebra 3 will be amazing and it will not be expensive to update. Zebra is a great long term investment.

you don't need anything, but if you like programming sound,if you have some money, zebra is a great investment, you don't regret it:) it depend what you "need",the Wt editor could be superior in serum but you can do some beauty things in zebra2(WT and Osc fx(like warp in serum)4osc,4 fmosc,comb,noise....) same for the unisson, hive could be superior but zebra can make nice supersaw too, if i have tot keep one synth in my folder, it will be, for sure,Zebra.

And it is much easier too

That being said, I own all 3 and like them all.
Serum and Hive for EDM and Trance, Zebra2 for everything.

I own Sylenth and Massive (I guess, in terms of the sounds you can get from them it's counts as roughly the same thing as owning Serum/Hive combo) and Zebra too. Zebra is never used as a main synth, but it appears in most of my actually finished tracks. I use it for "something different" if this makes sense - when I want to go away from familiar/overused synth sounds I fire up my Zebra, browse presets or try to tweak something on my own and see if I happen to come up with something funny.

However, since I've added Harmor and Dune2 to my set, I tend to prefer them over Zebra - they both sound better to my ears. Despite tons of tweaking possibilities, the core sound of Zebra is not on par with these two, imo, it tends to sound thin and plastic (sometimes this is just what is needed though).

Zebra is loved by tweaking maniacs because it allows some really crazy routing and deep oscillator editing, but if you prefer making songs over making sounds Zebra may be not exactly what you need - such a tweakability not equals excellent sound and for many tasks is just excessive.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

If you've tried the demo and you need others to convince you that you need a synth, then you don't need it.

Actually, you don't need any of those... all you need is....

HW SYNTHS [KORG T2EX - AKAI AX80 - YAMAHA SY77 - ENSONIQ VFX]
HW MODULES [OBi M1000 - ROLAND MKS-50 - ROLAND JV880 - KURZ 1000PX]
SW [CHARLATAN - OBXD - OXE - ELEKTRO - MICROTERA - M1 - SURGE - RMiV]
DAW [ENERGY XT2/1U RACK WINXP / MAUDIO 1010LT PCI]

To the ones saying that Serum is too bright.. You probably don't know how to use a low pass filter ;)

Please do yourself a favor and try Joseph Hollo's Warmed sound bank: http://sound.artenuovo.com/warmed.html

Aiyn Zahev's Halcyon also sounds great: http://www.aiynzahev-sounds.com/halcyon-for-serum

Not too bright or dark, the amazing options you get with the filter can fix all that to your heart's content. It's a terrific synth, but I just like the "Waldorf" sound better.

But hey, all credit to Serum for hitting all the modulation bases and even, as far as I know, making up a few new ones, at least in the "wave synth" universe. It's a miracle in itself imo.

I really like the sound of Hive, but I have so many other synths I just can't find time to do anything with it. This morning I opened Hive but but opted for Blue II.
Ha ha suck it!
