The residential property that is Headley Grange has played host to the recordings of many British greats from Bad Company to Genesis, but is most notorious for its contribution to Led Zeppelin’s purple patch and the seminal and much sampled rock drum sound created by Andy Johns & John Bonham for “When The Levee Breaks”. Having convinced the owners of the property to open it for a set of recordings for the first time in 40 years, Spitfire Audio set to work building a 2” tape based recording studio. We were joined over a week by 3 legendary drummers; Chad Smith of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Roger Taylor of Queen and Andy Gangadeen of Chase & Status and Massive Attack, resulting in one of the most instantly satisfying and thunderous collection of multi-sampled kits with a host of awesome and varied loops.
