i'm planning on trying those tonight or tomorrow. seeing as these are officially endorsed simulations, i'd expect them to be no worse than Amplitube's ENGL's (which are great IMO). i never quite liked bx_rockrack - it's nice, but not a hundred bucks on sale nice, maybe these would be better. i'm not so much interested in the E646 as i am in E765, but we'll see how it goes.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

They are very nice, but considering what you can get now with Scuffham, Positive Grid and Amplitube etc they are a bit pricey.

It would be great incentive if bx_rockrack customers received an additional discount.
I'll check these out soon, liked the sound in the videos.

I was thinking the same thing.Or at least give the tuner to the rockrack owner..It would be great incentive if bx_rockrack customers received an additional discount.

I don't know, free stuff is always great but you can't really expect that. Getting existing customers' business who might otherwise not buy or wait a year or two for a holiday sale sounds like a good deal for everyone.

They're a lot cheaper than when they required the UAD dongle.Twrogstudio wrote:They are very nice, but considering what you can get now with Scuffham, Positive Grid and Amplitube etc they are a bit pricey.

What about the TSE "ENGL" and LePou ENGL like amp?Burillo wrote:i'm planning on trying those tonight or tomorrow. seeing as these are officially endorsed simulations, i'd expect them to be no worse than Amplitube's ENGL's (which are great IMO).
I love using the latter.
Granted, this is more on the lines of "Powerball" and "Screamer", and the TSE's are "modded" E530 ENGL's - but still.

tested both - the amps pretty much confirmed my expectations. E646 isn't my cup of tea at all - it's a good model, responds well IMO, but i find it hard to find a setting that sounds to my taste. and it's only natural, since i don't do the kind of music this amp seems to be designed for (modern hi gain). E765 is a lot closer to what i would like to have, and i managed to coax some great sounds out of it, but for some reason it always sounds hi-passed with me. granted, my guitar electronics is currently faulty and the bridge humbucker operates in single-coil mode, but Recabinet 4 manages to compensate for that.
i might have to re-demo it when i fix my guitar electronics. that said, i'm really curious to check out the Friedman amp when it comes out as VST (currently UAD only, as the ENGL's were before).

both are great. the thing about ENGL's (or ENGL models, since i never really played a real ENGL) is, i don't particularly like the sound they produce. not that they're bad amps, it's just i don't play the kind of music they seem to be designed to do. which explains why i liked the classic-rock oriented E765 way more than the E646 - i simply like these kinds of sounds more. LePou's HyBrit is one of my favourite amps of all time.Compyfox wrote:What about the TSE "ENGL" and LePou ENGL like amp?

Funny that you mention not liking the sound of HiGain amps like the ENGL. I actually don't like the PEAVY clones by TSE and LePou. I do prefer the HyBrit and LE456 myself.

no one said i liked the 5150 (emulations) either hi-gain amps aren't exactly my specialty. the only ones i actually enjoy using are from Recabinet 4. now those are great, both for hi gain sounds i tend to gravitate towards (think Black Sabbath), and for more classic rock sounds. the "saturation" knob works wonders for turning sterile modern sound into a rich classic rock sound.

Just goes to show how subjective this stuff izz. I have Recab 3.5. Didnt care as much for 4.0 as i do IKs Engl. Its the powerball but i havent heard anything that will do that sound as well. Great cleans too.Burillo wrote:no one said i liked the 5150 (emulations) either hi-gain amps aren't exactly my specialty. the only ones i actually enjoy using are from Recabinet 4. now those are great, both for hi gain sounds i tend to gravitate towards (think Black Sabbath), and for more classic rock sounds. the "saturation" knob works wonders for turning sterile modern sound into a rich classic rock sound.
