Hi

can you import midi files and manipulate the files so it doesn't sound like the original?

Trough generating it with different progressions in the idea tool?

Post

Hi Shiru,

good question. Yes, that is possible. The MIDI file is analysed first, to fill the master track with chords. Tracks with harmonic content are converted to a 'chord relative' form, which means you can use other chords or chord progressions on the master track, the composition will automatically use that chords.
You need to tell the program which tracks to analyse for harmony, and which tracks to convert to relative form. If you find the chords too complex or too simple, you can change the settings and re-analyse the file. In the future MIDI import will be improved to show analysis results immediately and automatically locate musical phrases in the tracks.

Thanks,
Attila
