Hi all.I am using a Behringer FCA610 interface and have run out of inputs for my hardware gear.I am using a small sub mixer for some of my synths but they have to all use the same input channel in the Behringer running into my Live 9.2.Is it possible to use a small USB mixer with multiple ins and my FCA610 in live so that I can have all my hardware synths on their own channel in Live.I have tried using my old Tascam US-122-mk2 with Asio4all but it crashes so often it unusable :( . Many thanks Glyn.

Best option would be to get a simple, multi input audio interface. How many channels do you need to record at the same time?

Hi tehlord,at the moment I have 2 stereo inputs,2 mono and one digital.I know i could multi track but I am a berlin school music fan and I like to record as much as possible in one take (spontaneous knob twiddling and happy mistakes) and was hoping to be able to use a USB mixer rather than upgrade my sound card.Cheers Glyn.

Well you can use a USB mixer as long as it has a multi channel audio interface included and most don't. The vast majority only send the stereo mix.

I recall the Alesis MultiMix16 giving you 16 channels over USB and then stuff like the Mackie Onyx 1640i and A&H ZedR16 giving you the same plus more features over firewire, but it's a case of tracking one down that does actually do multi channel audio over USB.

A multi channel audio interface will give you the channel count, but obviously not the hands on.

Thanks mate, the stereo mix problem has concerned me as well,I think a bit more background info finding will have to be done and see what option will give me the best value for money and future proofing (can`t get enough hardware synth`s again).Cheers for advice mate,Glyn.

Yeah I get you, I like the idea of a mixer/jam, setup as well, but most of the mixers (if not all current ones) operate over firewire.

I have my eye on a Midas Venice F32.....one day......

A USB mixer is pretty much a mixer with an audio interface, so you'll only ever be able to run one ASIO interface or the other with Live. If you want a mixer that multi-tracks over USB it's going to cost you, altho' the Alesis Multimix 16 seems very reasonable.

There's an 8 input version too.

Good luck finding one ... it seems to be discontinued (I can't find one for sale anywhere).

I think the 16 was discontinued by the looks of it but the 8 seems a good buy at £119 on internet.

Are you sure it's the same one? Alesis have another USB mixer called MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX which has 8 inputs but only 1 stereo out over USB. They look different ... the multi-out version was around £250 usually .
