Easy going, light on the ear, dreadful cardigans - not my cup of tea. But I did learn how to play barre chords watching him on tv in the late 60's, so I can put him on my list of influences.
There seems to have been a lot of deaths in the music biz lately. It's sad.
God bless him, condolences to his family.

He was the man who knocked The Beatles album Sgt. Pepper off the UK No.1 spot ... incredibly popular in the sixties and early seventies. I remember his Saturday night shows from my childhood.

At the time I thought he was the epitome of bad taste and middle class values the spawn of mediocrity but now I look back on those days and realise he was a charming good natured entertainer just doing his thing with humor a smile, terrible cardigans and a pipe.
One of a kind... RIP.
