It sounds monstrous! what will I need to achieve such full sound, which softsynths would you recommend and specific processing?

Found here: https://soundcloud.com/monte-musik/mont ... w-original

definitely FM stuff. FM8 or Dexed should be able to do stuff like this. Nice track too with the Midnight Star "Midas Touch" vocal sample.

Any idea how exactly? I can't hit the ballpark with FM8 unfortunately.

For me it doesn't sound like a DX synth ... Ycan make this sound with substractive synth, with 2-3 oscs I think. I might give it a stab later when I have time ..
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Yep, sounds like FM to me.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Thanks for chiming in guys. so please help me recreate this or at least to come close enough..
I'm fairly okay with synthesis and I just can't get it.

I can't get an exact replica of the sound, but maybe this can help you with further tuning. It's not Additive Synthesis, though:

OSC1: PWM
OSC2: Pulse Narrow
Transpose them two octaves lower

Cut Off: ~ 2600 Hz; Env Amount: 100%

Amp Env: A: 0.01s; D: 0.60s; S: 60%; R: 0.3s
Filter Env: A: 0; D: 0.72s; S: 10%; R: 0.3s

Mod ENV (ADSR Style): 0.01s; 0.05s; 2%; 0.05S
Route this Mod Env to the fine pitch of both oscs

As I said, it doesn't sound exactly like this. But you are fairly okay with synthesis, so you can do the further tuning (I used Omnisphere for this. But any soft synth should do the trick.)

Alternative:
You could also search in the factory presets from the Yamaha DX7. FM8 can load them up. It really sounds like classic Pick Bass, which a lot of artists used back then (New Order on 1963 for example.)

Maybe you find the original sound there.
