sounds great. the drums and bass seem to be taking a bit of a back seat to the guitar though.

Thanks, yea, mixing isn't my strongest suit... :scared:
I think ratio between bass and drums is ok, but there's problem with double tracking on guitar, both tracks are using same phase and its canceling all the rest. I did some little tweaking, and I rather like this second track

I've played this 5 or 6 times. It's quite infectious. All the sounds seem to fit. I liked it all, especially the snare.

Good work :)

just had to come back and say that this sounds like an awesome cover of this old 80's favorite :)

Oh wow, never heard thing song before, but there's no doubt Offspring had great inspiration from this.

Haha, now with the vocal, sorry shitty mic tho

it sounds vivid and 'live-played! very cool. only the mix is for my ears kinda intransparent & one-dimensional. but hell...I am no mixing expert either. perhaps doubling/panning/shifting the guitars hard left-right would be an Option?
and btw...I think you've forgotten the vocals... :D

Personally, I prefer the 1st track better.

I listened to half the video and then the SC updated version (without vox). The bass in your intro sounds like it has a lot more of the pick sound in the first few seconds and then the guitars come in and it gets a bit lost. Goes a bit muddy and then pokes out again later. Did you change something to make room for the guitars? I always though the American punk sound relied on that bass sound cutting through the mix throughout the song.

Bass and drums together sound fine, I'd agree with you that it's the guitars causing the issues.

The rhythm guitar sounds like there's a phaser on it when it comes in, which is weird. Dunno if this is the phase effect you were mentioning before, but the stereo image is weird to be sure.

I don't know the original - I got bored of Offspring after SMASH as they never really developed further - but apart from the mix not being 100% there it sounds like I expect they still sound 2 decades later... :)

Not a huge fan of the later American punk sound (a bit "nice" and clean for punk), though I do like Anti-Flag. We regularly jam to Self Esteem and a few tunes off Dookie every now and then at band practice though.
