Ok, I've got some really useful sounfonts from the internet, and with lots of Delay/Reverb FX, it sounds (mostly) good. But I am especially searching for that dark, metal-ish, decaying stab sound in the first part of the song, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYKAtzU1 ... =6#t=0m50s ( 0:50-2:18 ). So my question is, how can I get this sound? Please answer!!!

Wow, Faithless Insomnia as popular in 2013 as 2009

I only really like it for that famous synth bit and it turns out they didn't even write that part.

any good Hammond B3 vst/sample with a little lowpass resonant filtering should achieve that soundDCO18 wrote:But I am especially searching for that dark, metal-ish, decaying stab sound in the first part of the song

I'm with Krim. Get the right decent reverb (and I'd suggest IRs are the best way to go) and you can make that sort of pizzicato sound on almost any synth on the market. Really, it's pulse waves with a short plucky env. Nothing amazing or difficult. Almost anything by ReFX does that sound with presets already given - it's what they do - Faithless and supersaws. Pretty well any VA by anyone else is capable of it. And samples all over the place. It's one of the easiest most straight forward sounds to program. Short or no Attack. Quick delay. Full sustain. Short release. Medium filter res LPF. Cutoff low mid Eq range. Done. Cover with a red wine jus. Sprig of parsley. Lexicon big room, preferable darkish. Little bit of delay if you want.
C'mon people, it doesn't need headscratching.

No, I simply like 90's electronic music more than modern tracks.Numanoid wrote: Is there a mid-90's house/trance revival on?

I agree, but who wrote it then I'm curious? Did they "steal" it from another song?aMUSEd wrote:I only really like it for that famous synth bit and it turns out they didn't even write that part.
