Hi Guys,
I would like to know what you guys usually do when doing a mono > stereo FX, do you duplicate the mono channel as is, or apply as well a -3 dB gain on both channel (pan like) ?
Both make sense IMHO, but was wondering what is considered as good practice.
Thanks !

I haven't thought about that actually, but I think it relates to pan law in a way: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panning_(audio)

Great question. A stereo mixer track host (like FL studio) uses two channels for mono, others use one. If the monitoring output goes to stereo, it's safe to say that the mono signal was already gained properly, and attenuating the sum would lower output level.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the feedback.
After some test in Protools own plugin, looks like the mono channel is duplicated and no gain is applied.
Will do the same then
