Congratulations with the upcoming release simon, so... how do you find the spectral resynthesis / morphing now you have been playing with it for a while and going in-depth with it's features?

Thank you Søren. Well, if you choose carefully what to re-synthesize and prepare the samples accordingly (like removing/filtering any unwanted components/noises) the spectral resynthesis algorithm has improved and the formant analysis and vocal filtering offers some useful new stuff. Defining in “Elements“ what to morph and what not, does increase the options to actually use the morphing in a more musical/useful sense, but overall it hasn't really changed that dramatically in comparison to version 1. The spectral editor itself is just as clumsy and slow as it was before, but at least it's stereo now and I already have achieved some good results when painting/masking spectral content in the editor or using an image as a brush to alter the spectral partials.Luftrum wrote:Congratulations with the upcoming release simon, so... how do you find the spectral resynthesis / morphing now you have been playing with it for a while and going in-depth with it's features?
But v2 definitely is a step ahead, I wouldn't call it a quantum leap, but a big step.

Three fresh patches in this track - Djembe Bass meets Timpani Synth meets Ambient Smoothie. After a few days I totally feel at home with the new Alchemy

Great stuff. Exact the kind of patches i like to see/hear. Abstract and usable as FX but also very musical and playable at the same time. I'm a bit tired of all the EDM hype and it's great to get this kind of patches. There are a lot good patches inside Alchemy already but most of them just doesn't show what this synth can do. Thank's.Sampleconstruct wrote:Three fresh patches in this track - Djembe Bass meets Timpani Synth meets Ambient Smoothie. After a few days I totally feel at home with the new Alchemy

Nice to hear to that you feel home in the new Alchemy.... and thank's for the tips about the resynthesis. Helped me a lot
Good luck with the release... at least i'm in!

Here is an impro demo for the patch Spectral Flautato, using multi-sampled violin flautatos in spectral resynthesis mode. The great thing in Alchemy 2 is that we can now use as many spectralized sources in an oscillator/source as we want, in version 1 there was only 1 spectral or additive (or both) sample source per oscillator possible. This gets rid of all the artifacts when transposing resynthesized sounds, juts like in a normal sampler or granulator. Very cool indeed!

This patch morphs between two re-synthesized spectral sources, a bamboo chime texture and a bowed crotales note with a long decay:

This patch uses spectral auto morphing (LFO-controlled) between 4 sources: an expressive cello note, a trombone wahwah sound and two vocal overtone transitions (male and female), quite amazing what this combo morphs into - some comb-filtering applied as well.

Two fresh patches from Resurrection, the lead sound is using spectral morphing between an E-bow and a flute sound. Alchemy 2 does rock!

Amongst other things I sample some water bells today, 5 different bell sizes drowned in the bathtub, which creates very interesting glissandi and warped bell sounds, there will be multi-sampled patches with round robin and velocity layser, but this patch uses a very long bell scape with already somewhat processed bell textures distributed over 4 morphable sources in Alchemy 2.

This patch uses additive re-synthesis of 2 images I made with ArtMatic which produces some awesome sounds if you take the time to adjust the re-synthesized data somewhat in the additive editors. Morphing between the snapshots in the video in several passes, the patch is set to morphing between the 2 sources.

A multi-sampled marching drum patch, hits played wits 2 different mallets at 3 velocities and 6x round robin, stick on the rim with 6x round robin, all sorts of filter+pitch FX can be dialed in for each sound.
