Edit: The main difference seems to be that now Halion 5 and Groove Agent 4 is included in the deal

The Grand 3 and HALion Symphonic Orchestra are also new (i.e. they weren't previously included in the Absolute Collection.)

EDITED: The differences between Absolute 1 and Absolute 2 are

- HALion 5
- Groove Agent 4
- The Grand 3
- HALion Symphonic Orchestra

HALion Sonic 2 was already included in the first version after the release of HS2.

Dear Guillermo,

Why don't you offer some sort of discount to current Cubase Pro 8 users?
As we've already invested quite a lot in the software, and we have Halion Sonic and Groove Agent SE built in, would be nice to have some sort of upgrade path for your loyal user base.

If you take a look at Logic X, you get full instruments for free. and the price for the entire package? 200$. I don't complain about the price and I love Cubase.

regardless of this pack, I'd even appreciate an upgrade path from Halion Sonic 2 SE to the full version.

Is any of this possible, if ever?

Thanks.

The upgrdae price from V.1 is WAY too expensive

Checking prices listed at KVR, those are valued at €349+€179+€149+€449 = €1126

So upgrading from v1 to v2 for €200 is a pretty big rebate on that :)

Post

The 6 instruments in Absolute collection v1 are valued at according to KVR prices: €249+$50+$80+€50+€50+€50 = €399 + $130 -> €520

So based on these prices, I would say that the upgrade to v2 is well worth it and a much more reasonable investment than when buying v1

As those already paying €300 to get v1 (stuff valued at €520) can increase that value to almost €1650 (520+1126) by paying €200 in upgrade to v2.

What's also new is that the Absolute Collection now requires a USB-eLicenser whereas the previous version could be soft-eLicensed if preferred.

Question for GN: do Hypnotic Dance/Dark Planet/Triebwerk work with the new Halion Sonic SE 2 or do they install the older version?

HALion Sonic SE and Groove Agent SE are part of Cubase Pro 8, they are included in the price of Cubase and are part of the same license, therefore cannot be upgraded. It is not possible at all.

You can run them separately or you can also add them inside of HALion Sonic 2. Also, with the new download manager you can decide what software you want to download and install.

hi Guillermo, I have a question for you. Firstly congrats on the release - for 299 aud upgrade price, to get all that, is quite good value - considering years back when the grand first came out, it would have been 500 aud JUST for that!

However i noticed that the australia prices have remained constant since when the dollar was at parity.. In other words they have been very fair. 129 for the cubase 7 to 8 update, so the same as the us upgrade price. But our dollar is dropping every day to be the lowest levels it was in years - it's the most fluctuating currency around, and we are also the most expensive country to live in.. it's crazy...

Will the prices stay, or do you plan to increase them as the dollar falls? Just that i want to know the time i have to raise the cash.

This is NOT what I was talking about. I wasn't talking about UPGRADING the SEs "per se".
I've been talking about a reduced price for CUBASE 8 users.
Why not giving us any special leverage over regular customers? Discount of some sort?
Either for this package, or for Halion Sonic 2, or for ANYTHING?

What about someone who already has HALion 5 and Padshop Pro?
