It would be great if
(a) the states for the open windows were saved in the project file
(b) and the default width / height were not used for existing instances of the FX.
Pretty please
------------------------
I set MMultibandLimiter as follows, with the separate Meters window (with Bands) below it):

On closing and re-opening the project, the view was:
>>> http://i.imgur.com/YDULcKU.png
-- the top-left corner of the main window is in the right place,
-- the Meters panel is correctly collapsed
but
-- the separate Meters window is not displayed
-- the main window size is using the default width / height (this always happens, I think)
If I click the Meters button to display the embedded meters, the whole window jumps to the left to fit it all on screen

Separating out the Meters puts the Meter window in the correct position; collapsing the Meters panel resizes the main window
>>> http://i.imgur.com/1goZn5a.png
Then I repositioned / resized the main window GUI to get back to the view I wanted.

I'm afraid the plugins are pretty much doing as much as they can. They are storing the state of the popup windows (globally! not per project!) and size of the windows. They even store sizes for easy & edit screens separately and collapsed state of most elements. The rest pretty much depends on the host. I just tried in newest Reaper on Win 8 and to-be-release 9.10 MMultiBandLimiter and it seems to retain the original position perfectly. Of course, if you hide the popup button for the meters, you need to get to the meters first and that will enlarge the window, but there's no way around it I'm afraid.

Understood.
I saw that the top-left co-ordinates of the main window are stored / used currently. And I was hoping that the other states / properties could be added to the plug-in data chunk passed to the host and used, in preference to the xxx.winstate data files etc for the plug-in.

Sadly it's not that simple...
