Trap/Hip Hop instruments

Hi, to be short, I wonder what instruments are used by professionnal Trap producers.
I don't mean Housy Trap, but something similar to Hip Hop.
Look at it :

So, they use sometimes synths to make atmospheres, with Nexus2 sometimes, but I have Nexus + 13 expansion, and you can be sure that 90% of their sounds don't come from it.
So, what about drums, brass, bass, strings ? Where did they found it ?
Unlike House music, where you find easily good samples brands (like Vengeance), it looks to be very difficult to found Trap vst oriented and samples.
The only ones I found are shitty sounding...
So, how do these producers ? Do they keep secret their way to do ?
I wonder where they found their instruments.
Thanks to help me !!

Therapy2093 makes most productions for Karris & Booba, if that's the kind of dark hiphop/trap sound you're after.
I think FL should do fine.

There recently had a trap preset pack for Circle2, too.

Hiphop producers usually use stuff that doesn't brand itself "trap".
Synths that come to mind= Massive, Sylenth
But also samples as well

I wouldn't really call any of this trap. Trap is more complex, has bending leads and exotic scales and rhythms.

I think you must be confused as to what 'original' Trap is or it's origins.Kinh wrote:I wouldn't really call any of this trap. Trap is more complex, has bending leads and exotic scales and rhythms.

OP: There is no secret, Nexus or any other Rompler can do the job. You just need to know what to do with it.

Hmm... What I want is not to try to copy paste these artists. But, except a Nexus2, I don't have any others romplers.
So, if you know some good romplers/libraries that give realistic and nice strings, brass that I could use in Hip hop, it would be very cool.
Thank you !

What you posted is the modern Pop/EDM variant of Trap, so in one sense you're not wrong but saying the original trap doesn't sound like trap makes you sound clueless.
Tomag:
If you have Nexus and all the expansions you have all the sounds you'd need I imagine, I've used Nexus and it really does sound great though personally I like to start with less processed sounds/make my own and build them from there, not into the canned thing but they do sound great.
Check out Kontakt or Kontakt Player Free, it has a basic kit which I imagine would do the trick for your Pianos/Strings/Brass. I just use Halion Sonic SE that comes with Cubase now adays and basic Synths to program synth sounds.
Alot of the sounds are fairly simple but alot of the sound is in the mixing now adays, lots of effects, delays and reverbs that will bring the sounds to life.
Drums come from whatever the modern kit is now adays, you can process your own base 808 kits or get processed samples, other drum hits too.
Checkout Goldbaby for 808 hits and scour around for drum samples, check the Hiphop forum on GS, always links to samples there.

After all this i still wonder why people think certain music can be done with a certain VST now.
Almost ANY VST can do ANY music nowadays.

The opp said what professional trap producers are using not were as in past. What I posted is the latest thing (well technically its a year old but to Americans its new ) If I were to say what equipment dance producers use I wouldn't expect you to use Moby as a reference point.
And neither of these examples he posted are Trap.
But good try though, I applaud your efforts.

Actually Sir you really have no idea what YOU are talking about. The OP wants to make SOUTHERN TRAP. Trap music has been around since the early 90s. Look up T.I. or Young Jeezy for the 2005/2006 take on trap.Kinh wrote:Hmm, very interesting perspective but again you dont know what your talkin' bout either.Agility wrote:LOL, you said trap music(What OP posted) doesn't sound like trap, you sir don't know what you're talking about.

That electronic trap stuff is fairly new...
Link posted again in case you missed it...for the record southern trap is still VERY popular in the US. Still = Present wouldn't you think?

I hate when people say trap music and it's really EDM or something other than DIRTY SOUTH ATL/MEMPHIS RAP MUSIC. Why they call EDM,and other bullshit, Trap Music after a genre was already started is stupid. I think I'm gonna start a new genre of Rap Music and call it House/Dance music so every time somebody looks for REAL house music/dance music all they see is my shit. GOD I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!!!!

@ OP: referring to Nexus are you missing pre made patterns/sequences or actual sounds?
attached by OP vids examples can be replicated with pretty much any freeware (vsti/vst/sample pack) these days.
