hi was using k5 maverick piano cpu usage was 50% on a 8 note chord without the inbuilt reverb 70% with. I am using a core i5 4670k this seems excessive for a sample based instrument. Anyone help with what they get for this

You mean you are using The Maverick by Native Instruments, in Kontakt 5 ?:boombaxx wrote:k5 maverick piano

If you use K5 VST, you may want to turn off Multiprocessor support and allow the DAW to utilize Multiprocessor.
If you use K5 stand alone then you want to turn on Multiprocessor support.
These are NI's recommendations and may help (should) with the CPU load.
Of course, you may also have something else going on you have not specified so makes it hard to gauge.
Since v5.3 though Kontakt doesn't seem as efficient now and seems to use more CPU that it previously did. At least here it does. As long as you're not getting drop outs and such I don't know that it is worrisome. YMMV.
Cheers!

Actually later K5 versions seem LESS CPU intensive, since Time Machine Pro was optimized, and MIDI CC processing was optimized as well (in K5.5)...

Maybe I've got some other issues then ED , but since the update K5 has been giving me all sorts of problems.
Actually, where does one point the finger? K5, VEP5, Live, BWS?
None of those are playing well together for me
BTW - I noticed you wrote K5.5 and re-checked mine....yes, 5.5.0.409
Cheers!

Isn't there a logic trick, You create an unused track, throw a plugin on it.
This takes logic out of live mode, which throws everything on one core.
You will get even multi core distribution.
Isn't the latest kontakt update 5.5.4?

That's a trick for Logic, but not other DAWs.

There's no 5.5.4. Just 5.5.1, and it won't make any difference regarding CPU usage.
