Sorry if this might have been asked before.
I had a Windows 7 machine which I upgraded to W10 using the “media creation tool”
I want a W10 fresh install. Is this the way to do a clean install? It is a true clean install?
Is there a better way?

Check here: http://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to- ... indows-10/
You can do the reset thing, or check that link under the 'Download Windows 10 and Create Installation Media' section.
Really not sure how well the 'Reset Feature' works. I havent experimented. Has anyone used any type of registry / file cataloguer pre / post 'reset' to see if (and how much) junk is left?
If i had to make an educated guess (im thinking SP vs Slipstreamed SP of past days), i would go with a full clean install rather than trust MS reset.

Yes, after some research I did yesterday I can confirm it's KB3035583. However, if you don't want this update, you'll have to exclude it from future automatic updates (after deleting it thoroughly, which isn't as easy as one might think).xNiMiNx wrote:KB:3035583 ?

I removed this invasive notification by running this from the command line:
WUSA /UNINSTALL /KB:3035583
The change takes effect after you reboot. It hasn't come back yet but I will rinse and repeat each time it does.

Heres some more information that may help someone else (from http://www.sevenforums.com/general-disc ... 7-8-a.html)

Just updated my more than 6 years old notebook from Windows 7 64-bit to Windows 10 64-bit. At a first look it seems to work fine and even seems to be slightly faster than before even if just done the update and not a fresh install. At least with the update/upgrade options all my prorgrams still seem to work without need to reinstall. Anyway i had to remove my security software before the update and re-install it later where it worked again nicely. With the security softwrae installed (Kaspersky Internet Sexcurity) the Windows 10 installation was going back to Windows 7 after it was already close to finish the install.
Also found a tool to get the product key from the installed Windows 10 (did not receive this by e-mail) so i could do a clean install later if necessary. ISO files for DVDs seem to be already available.
At my desktop PC i still got Windows 7 64-but but will maybe update it later after testimng a bit more on my notebook
The Windows 10 update also allows to go back to the previous Windows 7 install if you like. You could also delete the Win 7 backup if you no longer need it.

Finally updated my DAW (and anything else) computer to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1. What can i say? Everything works. No issues so far, just had to install new graphics card and sound drivers and it's all good. I'm really impressed by what Microsoft did there, i have updated all my 3 computers now, and didn't have one bigger issue with each of them. All audio software is working, games i still have to test, but those i've tried so far worked fine, the updating process was peanuts, and it's a real improvement to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. So, can only recommend to update.

How can it be free only for a limited time? Am I supposed to run on Linux after that? Can you run some sort of Mac OS on a PC?

I HAD TO INSTALL WINDOWS TEN AT WORK
IT'S AN UGLY PIECE OF SHIT
IT'S OBVIOUSLY IN BETA STAGE
JUST GOOGLE WINDOWS 10 AND YOU'LL SEE HOW MUCH ASS IT SUCKS
Honestly unless you have a compelling reason to upgrade anything... why do it?
Why spend countless hours re-installing your software just so you have the latest operating system? And then more hours reading forums to fix bugs?
Wouldn't you rather just make music?
f**k you BILLY GATES f**k YOU

I installed it twice.
Un-installed it twice.
Don't plan on installing it a third time.
For professional music or video work I would categorize it as, "not ready for prime time."

How come? My DAW's, plugins, and Sony Movie Studio work nicely on it.PatchAdamz wrote: For professional music or video work I would categorize it as, "not ready for prime time."
