@musikmachine
the tools are in there - the zdf toolkit and envelope toolkit
but there are few ready made blocks that seek to properly emulate old stuff
having done zdf filters and encelopes in core before
i can say that these toolkits 'should' bring that tech to more people
and hopefully mean you no longer need the maths (i haven't dug in yet)...
but you (or someone else) will need knowledge of how the original filters etc. were assembled
and the will to emulate rather than innovate
in the meantime:
Michael Hetrick's Euro React series goes way beyond expectations
and the polyphonic reworks are fine
but if you are talking of replacing a studio full of analogue synths
you will need a bloody powerful computer

Just slapped together this strange little noise making patch with some stuff from the user library.
For maximum enjoyment, run the output of this into ValhallaFreqEcho for some mind bending ambient glitchy soundscapes.
Still learning a ton, and having to patch in two windows isn't so bad, i actually kind of like it!
It's kind of like patching with reason, but way more fun.

Just installed the Reaktor 6 Player, and am curious if there is any difference in CPU utilization between the Player and the full Reaktor 6?
I'm mostly interested in acquiring Rounds and/or Monark to use with the Player. Not sure I want the full version of Reaktor yet.
Also, can either of these be found for less than the current NI holiday sale?

I was waiting but no sale. Yeah there's some really interesting looking blocks in the user library. Found a good series of tutorials on building stuff with blocks a few days ago, will see if i can find it.V0RT3X wrote:Well i just purchased my upgrade, i didn't want to be patient until they had a sale. I am having a blast making my own patches with the blocks!
This is a must-have if you want to patch with some awesome blocks.

Thanks for replying! Yeah CPU is a consideration but i was thinking of sampling resampling stuff just like hardware, using Reaktor as a sound design source but using a patch or two live for bass or lead, not running everything live! At least not until quantum computing becomes a household thing.dave dove wrote:@musikmachine

Wow Reaktor 6 interface looks more or less just like R5
I like
And no need to register Reaktor 6 player in NI serial center, I like even more
All of the Reaktor 5 player instrument I had installed like Razor and Monark automatically got added to Reaktor 6. Wow NI, this is some great coding for users well being here for sure

NI should offer V5 at BF half price sale, and generate some long-term upgrades
to V6 and beyond. Marketing departments are so weird...

You know v6 retail price is considerably lower than v5 was, right?glokraw wrote:NI should offer V5 at BF half price sale, and generate some long-term upgrades

What's your opinion on the drum synthesis relative to hardware drum machines?dave dove wrote:kick drum

@musikmachine
Reaktor is well capable of the weight, speed and power of analog drum synths
but with the added benefits of whatever kind of sequencing you like
see my stuff here:
http://www.native-instruments.com/en/re ... l/1521268/
and Michael Hetrick's drum blocks are awesome:
http://www.native-instruments.com/en/re ... show/9093/
that kick drum is a quick test
and a bit of a mess control wise
but sounds great through a big PA....
@thelizard
is that you Mr.Hetrick?
