You surely realize that the "complex" mode in Blockfish already puts two compressors in serial order?Omkar wrote:With the Blockfish you already have the Klitschko brothers ...
Here`s an idea you may want to try: use 2 in serial on a channel, like
the Wladimir vca first
and the Vitali opto second
or any combination you like the best.
I still can`t recreate that vibe in the 64bit world
Punchiest free compressors out there atm?

Hi, yes, but the "classic interpretation" of serial compression delivers different results.jens wrote:You surely realize that the "complex" mode in Blockfish already puts two compressors in serial order?Omkar wrote:With the Blockfish you already have the Klitschko brothers ...

It was withdrawn along with most of his payware when he stopped developing. He has since set a few plugs free, but not Sidearm. Maybe send him a PM?camsr wrote:Can somebody provide a link please?

I wouldn't say it's the best for punch - it's not what I reach for first if that's what's required. Having said that I do use it on some dance music masters that haven't got enough punch going on - you can really fine tune it.Mutant wrote:3 pages and no one mentioned the best one...

i always get blasted for mentioning it,
heck i've been checking these "best free comp" threads for years, and for all the options out there, imo mda dynamics is still my fave.
it's a simple, plain compressor. no fiddly "special features" that detract from actually compressing. it does exactly that. people laugh and say "it's not oversampled" - i'm compressing bass, aliasing isn't an issue. nice param ranges.

for punch?? Really?
Hmmm. to me that compressor is used as an ultra transparent super signal preserver mastering comp. Maybe I have been using it wrong.
