I know bitwig is full off dealing with bugs and the next 1.x update. In a couple of months bitwig has reached 2 years old.
1.2 took really long and then 1.3 popped out right after. Bitwig still misses many keyfeatures. Still keeps impressing records of adding amazing features to us every now and then.
Do you guys think we will have many more updates like 1.x.x before will become 2.0? My guess is that bitwig want to add some features like fades and comprecord among with time signatures and all other amazing basic features. But it might be that bitwig feel need to release v2 and getting those update in v2 also or in some 2.x.x update. That wouldnt be to bad either because network and stuff and open modulare would be awesome. But maybe will be hard for them if they havent structured all the basic out first.
Give me your thoughts about this. Remember this thread wont contain any information since no one really knows. What we say will only be for purpose of imagen how bitwig will come together and ofc to have nice conversation

Honestly, I think we're at least a year away from 2.0, if not 18 months. They seem pretty focused on getting Bitwig stable adding features to bring it up to par before going crazy with the internal modular stuff.
They also don't seem like the group to jump from 1.x to 2.0 just for the sake of it. I'd guess we'll see 1.4-1.9 before we see 2.0.

Im with dplduffy,... dont got a clue why.. but i think 18months,yes.
But for me the sampler needs some work and fades and comping are more then welcome...and some other visual thingies, (of course bugfixing, but thats going right direction)
The rest well,..... i dont know, for me its almost complete as is... More is for me not always better. But ofcourse its welcome but i hope it wont be clutterd in implentation.

I'm not interested in 2.0 yet (speculation is fine )
There are still too many existing issues and bugs... plus lots of small polishing up stuff to do.
A rock solid, stable program that is fast and agile is feature #1 for me.

If last NAMM is any clue, they would show an early alpha of 2.0 at NAMM 2016, show it to early adopters in July, everyone else in September and release it in November.. a year from today!

Some quick logic says this, if they were to release version two, that means they are charging EVERYBODY for the upgrade, they already said this sort of.
So this means, if you think they are going to get 2.0 out in the next 6+ months, that means either they get all those nasty bugs out and implement a couple key features to compete with other DAWS, OR they throw a huge amount of money down the drain for unhappy customers being forced to pay for software that is still buggy and incomplete.
You can do the math and pretty much figure out what the answer is, I think most users will know when 2.0 is around the corner.

What would be truly awesome:
Release 2.0 soon (when the features are done).
People that pay would get the option to download and install the new features through their download manager or something.
People that don't pay would still get updated program (mostly bug fixes and no new features).
This way, they can ensure that everyone has an up-to-date and bug free version and also control the new feature payment method.
.....
Whichever they do, I just really really really want the network features here, today. :'(

While that is cool for people with those needs, I'm talking about the Bitwig Network Sync. Where someone else with Bitwig can just join my network and sync up to my Bitwig as master and play through it.xbitz wrote:ipMIDI http://www.nerds.de/en/ipmidi.html ?powermat wrote: Whichever they do, I just really really really want the network features here, today. :'(

2 will come after 7, 8, 9. By 7 everyone will be hungry. They might do a MSoft on us.
