So I have the UVI Workstation installed, and since it is there I thought I'd see what all is available for it outside of UVI's libraries. BTW I did grab UVI's free AP-09 piano, it is actually quite nice, the arp is fun.

Remember you can import audio files and REX files and play with the chops etc. Some minor editing can be done.

Ah that's cool, but you really are limited in what you can do. Is there any way to map drum loops to individual keys? I see no facility for that. One loop per part seems like all you can do, beyond the auto-slicing, which works pretty good but when it doesn't, you have no options.thejonsolo wrote:Remember you can import audio files and REX files and play with the chops etc. Some minor editing can be done.

They are cool! I have AcousticSamples Sunbird, Uku and Telematic. Sunbird can be a very good companion to IK's American Acoustic (I remember you have), especially for strumming.braj wrote:Well, these guys are cool, I hear good things about Sunbird:

Overall, out of those three I have the one that is really unique is Uku. The moment you load it up and strum it for the first time it sound as if you strummed a real ukulele. I just love it! And for the price it's a complete no-brainer, especially considering the still going black friday/cyber monday sale.

I have UVI's SweepMachine and Digital Synsations running in my Workstation. I'm interested in their String Machine and UltraMini which are $29 on sale. I have no interest in a free cowbell collection... that just sounds nightmarish to me
UVI Workstation has to be the least supported soundbank player on the market - which is a shame because it's very stable and user-friendly.

I'm waiting on UVI to send me the download link for Extreme FX ☺ bought used here just a while ago. And now I'm interested in Falcon since learning it can load these libraries, though it's price scares me away.
I might pick up that Uke next time it ion sale.

I'm new UVI -user, too, bought SweepMachine, StringMachine and UltraMini. Although I find the platform UVI Workstation passé, even their own people admit its not the most practical (and btw, they are working with a new one), and the samples take really long time to load, the sounds are splendid. Synth interfaces are clear and easy to use, StringMachine samples may not be the most versatile but I like e.g. how the filters and effects sound, especially whe midi-mapped and/or modwheel controlled. The Mini is worth every penny (especially $29), has great sounding oscillators and filters, the combiation of the phraser/arpeggiator is easy-to-use and innovative with a pattern recording option.MogwaiBoy wrote:I have UVI's SweepMachine and Digital Synsations running in my Workstation. They are good - they could be easily very, very good.

How would you compare UltraMini vs StringMachine for a Boards of Canada vibe? I understand the StringMachine only has 30 presets?

It excels in every department, UltraMini is even more CPU intensive than Monark, imagine thatMogwaiBoy wrote:Re: UltraMini - everyone just says why not use Monark. But for $29 you probably can't go wrong!

I have Monark and Arturia, even all the Sampletank Moog samples, still I find that the UltraMini gives new things and new good sounds.
