Hey
Call me a noob, that exactly what I am, so Im sorry for this stupid question.
I speak english but its not my native language.
I am following this course:
http://www.sonicacademy.com/Training+Vi ... io.cid7295
I have also downloaded lots of MIDIs, samples, etc.
However I am confused(maybe because of my english) with some naming conventions.
What is a pluck?
What is an arp? On the video tutorial when he explains about arp, he said to choose a pluck preset.!
Also some of the midis I have, instead of saying plucks they say chords, or melody.
btw, I am trying to produce uplifting trance.
I understand very well kicks, claps, hh, oo, pads, leads, bassline, subbass, but I am confused with above elements.

Arp = arpeggio, notes played after each other, usually up,down or random, this one is going up in octaves
Pluck = short sound, like you pluck a guitar string, made usually with a short decay envelope applied to the filter cutoff

Pluck is a type of sound, as ere2learn explained. Chords are melodic structure. Better get some idea on minor and major chords and intervals if you want to produce trance.
