depends on what you consider "music" i guess.

I know a few people who have made some cool Reaktor 6 tracks using custom block designs.

Hi folks!

Before upgrading I'd like to know what difference does it make to own Monark or not from the reaktor 6's point of view.

I mean, if monark blocks are included in 6, you basically have Monark right there, right?

Yeah pretty much. Monark saves some cpu to do the equivalent thing, but otherwise Reaktor 6 is more flexible. You can easily make a velocity sensitive version of Monark for example. Monark does have a glide type similar to the 303 which I haven't seen in Blocks though.

I've been using it in a friends studio (waiting for the next version of komplete to upgrade!), but I like it more and more.

I noticed a problem though recently. I input a bunch of 16th notes on a grid and the sounds didn't play correctly. Seemed to join them together weirdly. I moved notes around (they were all exactly 16th note length) and many notes did not trigger. If I made the notes a little less than 16th or a little more (triggering legato) than it worked fine but not at exactly 16th note length when notes were back to back. Other ensembles were fine but not blocks. Not of the blocks ensembles I tried triggered correctly with notes joining. It's like it can't handle a note off at the same time as a note on or something. Anybody seen this?

Great! - thanks for the info

What about polyphonic?

Only by using a different oscillator for each voice. Like the old SEMs used to do. It'll be very cpu intensive. Actually someone did post a polyphonic moog this way. But you don' get multiple orcs per voice. Not worth the cpu for polyphonic patches. Or the headache in designing the sound.

If you copy a block content into a normal macro and put such macros into a single instrument then you can make your polyphonic monster.
And if it can be done, chances it is already in the user library :

So CM really dig R6, gives it 10 out of 10 and heap rewards on it: Ed's choice, Innovation, Performance, and Value award

I imagine making a 4 - voice polyphonic synthesizer using Reaktor 6 blocks can't be too CPU intensive. It really boils down to the blocks themselves as some use more CPU than others and vice versa.

If you really want it, Diva and it's multi-core processing is probably the best bet for polyphonic Moog sounds.

I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it will be for NI to rewrite Reaktor so it takes advantage of multi-core processing. When that day comes though... It will be very awesome.

I know this thread is aging now, but I was wondering, based on people's experience with Reaktor 6 vs. Reaktor 5, should I upgrade now, or wait for Komplete 11? I don't remember what time of year Komplete 10 was released.

That depends a lot on your level of engagement with Reaktor. All you're really asking is if R6 is worth $100 more to you to get it now instead of next year. If you use Reaktor a lot then it probably is. If you are not technical but really want to use digital modular synthesis, then it is really the best choice right now.

If you aren't really engaged in it then I would wait.

Basically, yes. I'd like to be much more engaged in it than I am, currently, and would love to learn modular synthesis.

I'll get it soon(ish), then. :)
