Mathematically or musically?

I tried all the algorithms, which are in the melody generator , but the result was nearly nothing , what was acceptable as melody. They all sound constructed, mathematically but not musically. Of course you can work on the phrases, so that they become musically. But perhaps the algorithms could be better. There should be some advanced features in the melody generator, which could make the phrases more musically.
The tweaking of the melody in the actual state is divided in some categories like polyrythm, probalistic etc. This division is unnaturally. All characteristics together in a fine mixture makes a good melody. So, there should be a way to use these tweaks in combinations.
The other way to get a good melody is using motifs and slight variations of the motifs. There could be an algorithm to work with motifs.

I've tried for years all the algorithmic composition programs, Common Music, Symbolic Composer, Csound, Java stuff etc. I don't believe you can generate humanly satisfying material through algorithms alone. You need to edit the result to what you are intending. Why have mathematics select what note(s) you want? Most algorithmic output is just random variations, not very musical in the least. Humans look for order and patterns....

I agree that some work can be done on the Melody Generator. Order and patterns are necessary, for catchy hooks and pleasing melodies. Attila, I'm sure, is working on improving this. I have talked to him at great length about this, in emails.

Thank you for your input. When everything settles down (v3 is out) the Melody Generator will need to be improved, I have plans and new ideas for that.
Thanks,
Attila

this software is old but never update
the idea is to fuse this theory with RapidComposer
