Ok, I've since researched GWX, it's been blessed by a few folks I trust, so I ran it, and got the view shown here

(by the way -- how to make this show up as an image here?)
Indeed, my system had been set to allow Win10 upgrades ... those cockroaches. I clicked the button and it seems to work / do no harm ... time will hopefully bear this out.

MS managed to issue another two w10 nagware/forceware updates just days ago... It looks windows updates are useless these days for W7, everything is just W10 ads. At this point, it might be better, if they announce end of support for W7 and leave it alone like they did with XP, so I could peacefully run two "finished" systems on my comp... You know, when support is not needed anymore, it means that the product is finally out of beta stage.

I read today that there is new KB update related to W10, so avoid to install KB3123862. The older one is KB3035583.
But really, I am so pissed by MS now that I am seriously looking into Linux. Most things I do on my computer should be available on Linux as well. Remains the DAW/plugin issue

I just updated Windows 7 today, but no Windows 10 installed, wasn't even asked if I wanted to install it?
Maybe I gotta pay to upgrade

I dunno. Maybe, if you "upgraded" to 7, the update to 10 isn't available. Not sure if.Numanoid wrote:I just updated Windows 7 today, but no Windows 10 installed, wasn't even asked if I wanted to install it?

Been running 10 since forever, again, other than a couple of niggles it's fine.

You can install Windows 10, and activate it using your Win 7 key since the Threshold 2 upgrade. So, basically, you would download the ISO with the Media Creator Tool from Microsoft, and you have an image of the latest version which you can install from.Numanoid wrote:I just updated Windows 7 today, but no Windows 10 installed, wasn't even asked if I wanted to install it?

He is joking (notice the "wink") with the statement that any Windows 7 is automatically updated to Windows 10 without even warning the user.chk071 wrote:You can install Windows 10, and activate it using your Win 7 key since the Threshold 2 upgrade.
