Thanks but I need SATA and this looks to be PCIe.

I'm pretty much sold on the 850 Pro now and will be ordering tomorrow. Yay!!!

Yep Samsung 850 or sister models all the way.

Morning all,

Once I have removed the existing Fujitsu MHY2200BH will it fit into this enclosure?

Kaine, I have my credit card at the ready today :)

Pretty sure it would. Ive got a couple of old 2.5" HDs in far crappier enclosures than that.
my other modular synth is a bugbrand

Looking forward to taking the plunge finally.

or as an absolute strech:

1TB is complete overkill though. I still have 20GB left on my 8 year-old 250GB drive.
Samsung 850 Pro 512GB it is then :)

Kaine wrote:Ahh, ok. The U.2/M.2 options are far too new for a laptop of that generation (both standards came out last year), so your Intel 750's are out I'm afraid. Standard Sata 3 controller, so either the Intel 730 or Samsung 850's are where you want to be looking.
Thanks Kaine. The 730 Intel is £100 more expensive than the bigger Samsung and the equivalent 535 Intel.

Why does the extra £ bring to the party?
I should have said 530 series tbh, but the Samsung would be my choice over the that.

FYI the 730 offers some level of dedicated over provisioning and improved warranty terms. Not really worth the extra cost for a none enterprise user however, you can forget I mentiond that one :)

Well I'm sold dude.

Are you on commission? (ie, should I order directly through you or just on the website?)

Nah, for my sins, I am not. Go for the website (if you haven't already!) :)

Oh wow, you're just getting it now?

Had my 840 for a long time now. Very nice so far.

Bought the 850 pro a little over a year ago for my Macbook Pro. I wish I would've bought it sooner, like immediately right after I got the laptop. It's insanely faster for booting, launching apps, and working with audio. I paid about $125 more than it is now on Amazon. And it was totally worth it even then.

All done.

Would recommend Scan over and over again!

Well it was something I knew I had to do but it wasn't really a priority. Besides I always have projects on the go so didn't have the downtime to change a perfectly working system.

It's almost there now though, quite exciting too.

Should be! It's an exotic upgrade. You'll notice speed differences you previously thought were imagination!

It's taken me a little over a week, spending 3-4 hours each day but I'm finally there.

Windows 7 and SSD installed.
Komplete 10
Waves licenses "recovered" from old HDD and reinstalled.
Cubase 8.5
Live 8 installed and 9 pending.
SBX1 installed.
All of my old projects migrated over.
All of my old samples migrated over.
Driver after driver after driver to get wireless keyboards/mouse and monitor to work.
Midex8 MIDI driver installed. M-Audio Profire installed.

However, I have just thought about my MX400 :dog:

Next is the classic Aero skin as I'm still not convinced on the Win7 look, even my heavily customised one.

There are very good technical reasons why pro SSD are more reliable and perform better than consumer SSD (and cost about twice as much). This is not a myth. Pro SSD support more writes before dying.

However, if you use a SSD just for storing your samples libraries and instruments, i.e you only read and don't write them, there is no advantage in using pro SSD series.
