Hi Guys,

I used SFZ+ lately, but it's not for download anymore.
I've been looking for other free SF readers but they are all gone (sfz+, DiscoDSP,...)
I'm looking for one with reverb, chorus, and ADSR etc added.
So, the basics.

Any ideas?

I don't remember DiscoDSP's once-freeware sampler "HighLife" (now somewhat Bliss) ever having Reverb - but then again... "basics" to some, are luxury to others.

If you didn't see that yet:

There is one particular sampler(!!! - yes, it can "sample"/record as well) on that list, that can load SF2 and is freeware to boot with enhanced features for mere pocket money. It's CWItec's TX16Wx (not affiliated with the Yamaha TX16W - look for Sonic Charge's CYCLONE in this case).

Through granted - no Send FX like Reverb/Chorus/Delay. At least not in the free version.

Greenoak Crystal can load sf2 files. Bit more complex in what it does with them though.

Jeskola XS-1 is working perfect for me in Cubase 8 64bit.
It's very small and easy, but has basic effects and ADSR envelopes.

It's really worth a try!

The best for me is Sforzando, already mentioned above.

Still mantained and has disk streaming, that allows using it for huge soundfonts that cannot be entirely loaded in RAM.

Zampler works with SFZ format, not SF2.

Many people believe they are the same thing, but they are not. Totally diferent stuff.

SF2 format never was really well implemented in software samples. It was created to be used with old Creative soundboards, and the file format includes not only samples mapping, but also envelopes, filters and LFO configurations (because the SoundBlaster boards has filters and envelopes). NONE of the software implementations seems to deal with all those parameters. They just read the sample mapping.

Samplelord is one of the best SF2 loaders in my opinion. It can even load huge Soundfonts of multiple GB, it's only 32bit VST though.

Samplelord is still suported?

I think TX16Wx is currently the best bet for soundfonts enthusiasts. It is stable, well supported and the pro version is not expensive.

The other option is the soundfont player inside FL Studio. It is limited in features, but loads soundfonts very well. But only works inside FL Studio.

That's a great option indeed. Just lacking reverb, I know that's not a prob but it is when you working with patches.

I don't think so, but it still works great.

Send FX are added if you go for the Pro Version.

Take a look at screenshot 6 on the KVR product page:
http://www.kvraudio.com/product/tx16wx- ... ec/details

It lists a reverb, delay and chorus.

Wow. This is everything I want in an sf2 player. Simple, light, and surprisingly powerful. I wish it were better at displaying sf2s with lots of banks, but apart from that it's killer.
