Hi,

I installed the new free Fender Bass app. You got me! This will be my next buy. Synthesizers can make really good bass, but for pop rock, even the best imitations can’t compete. But what bass guit for my music, from clean pop to hard rock (not metal)? Of course, I can download and install all the demos, but it’s very frustrating!

I tested the fender bass with a free virtual bass amp (from Ignite Amps) and Ampeg SVT Impulse response. The result was not very good. I got a better sound with no amp and cab! Would I need some saturation or distortion, a dedicated plugin could make the job. I have no electric bass experience (just used synths). I know that some Beatles songs were recorded with the bass directly plugged in the console. I’m ready to buy a good virtual bass amp and some top impulse responses, if the free stuff I used is the problem. So… thanks for your advices!

Thanks for asking, we have not tried the free AMP you are using but Amplitube 4 sounds great, all of Ample Bass songs use Amplitube, please visit our website to check.

Although I also have Amplitude, my current favorite is Waves CLA guitars Plugin.
It has some pretty nice sounding presets for bass & guitar, plus built-in amp sims that sound good all by themselves.

You can download a 30 day demo and it comes up on sale pretty regularly.
I was going to buy it on sale for $29, but then I found the CLA Signature pack (6 different plugins) on sale for $106.

I just have the free version of Amplitube 4. I'll check if there is a bass amp in this version, but for guitars amp, the excellent Amplesound guitars deserves better. Try Karzog Thermionik. A clear step ahead. Really!

I have Waves JJP Guitar. Excellent. I'll see what I can do with it for bass.
