Declaring “finished” on this one. More adventures in automating synths to make percussion, along with warm (if muddy) pads in the background.

https://soundcloud.com/tylerm-74312778/ ... ent-osc-87

DAW: Ableton Live
8 instances of Podolski (plus 4-5 more on tracks that didn’t survive into the final version)

DAW FX:
EQ Eight / EQ Three
Compressor
Glue Compressor
Saturator
Reverb
Convolution Reverb Pro
Delay

Also, going to make sure I get around to listening to all the other entries and voting this month. Badge of shame and dishonor.

Well, I decided to give myself a week for this one (reserving the right to tweak it if necessary). I think today is the week mark after noticing what the synth is or maybe slipped a day or so, but anyway here ya go! Hope you like it (but it's sorta EDM, so sorry in advance). (Also, posting in the right thread this time... seems I got subscribed to the Podolski thread somehow... d'oh!)

Used: Bitwig (@ 512 BPM), Podolski * 68

Bitwig FX:
EQ-5
Reverb
Compressor
Dynamics
Distortion
Blur
Bit-8 (no, I didn't use the awesome bitcrushed sound I wanted to)
Delay-2
Peak Limiter
Delay-4
Filter
Tool
Transient Control

Other FX:
Freeverb 3
TAL Reverb 4
TDR Nova
Xfer Records OTT
Limiter No6
MWaveshaper (as light-ish distortion)
Flux Stereo Tool v3

Enjoy!

Well this is a little offtopic, but i wanted to share it with somebody nonetheless. So i am really struggling with my track for this OSC. I just don't feel creative enough to finish it properly.

I decided to do something different to distract my mind a little and found myself using some of the presets i did for OSC. Turns out that i just now made a really beautiful beat on that basis. This is just a little example why i think even if you don't win anything in the competition, it can still be very useful for your own development.

So thanks for hosting this competition! :ud:

That's pretty much how I do OSC. We're all in it for different reasons. If you're happy with what you've done, definitely work on it and submit it :tu:

If it wasn't for the OSC I wouldn't create any songs at all.
Learned a lot about audio, sounds etc and I tell my students about it, and let them experiment with synths. They love it!

Well its been a while! Anyway here is my submission

https://soundcloud.com/philip-mumford/o ... -flipm1967

Reaper 5.18 64 bit PC
11 instances Podolski
2 instances of ReaComp on kick.
All other effects as built in to podolski

Had some ideas - 5/4 time moving to 4/4 time - hence the name 3:55 - 5 to 4 - geddit! ;-)
Unfortunately ran out of time so I have just posted where I got to.
Podolski took up a lot of time (that I didn't have) with problems
- hanging notes
- not showing which patch selected
- sometimes got lost in the user interface trying to edit patches
- pleased with kick but other percussion - bleah.
Luckily for non-perc there were many lovely presets to double up and edit slightly that did the trick.
FX built in sound v.nice.

Are DJ type EQ allowed , on the whole mix I mean ?

Post

Why not if they fit into the rules ?
Effects rules:

Most Native DAW effects may be used (see below for what NOT to use)
- The effects must be easily available freeware 3rd party effects. This does not include plug-in betas, demos, magware or freeware that has expired, unless a special exception is made that month.
- ANY Built-in effects native to the plug-in itself may be used. (So built in chorus / distortion / etc is allowed)

The following DAW effects are NOT allowed:
- Any type of modulation effect (e.g. chorus, phaser, flanger, rotary etc.). (Please note that effects like reverb or delays that perform modulation to achieve their sound are ALLOWED, but the modulation usage must be minimal.)
- Effects that pitch the sound (e.g. pitched / granular delays, tapestops etc.)
- Any effect that transforms the sound to make them unrecognizable as being from the synth.

Some great new tracks posted, well done guys

I'm curious as to what the next OSC synth will be...

I find this rule obscure
- Any effect that transforms the sound to make them unrecognizable as being from the synth.

This is open for interpretation of course but if you use an effect that alter the sound so much, and in a way that the synth alone never could do, then it is not allowed. That's why I find it strange that chorus effects are listed as not allowed because they don't alter the sound that much really. Just giving some wideness to the sound. But I think moderation is the key.

Hello everybody!

Here is my submission for this month:
I thought, regarding the name of the synth, this title has to deal with football (for americans: soccer), so it's called "Goalgetter". :)

DAW:
Cubase Elements 8
Internal FX:
Reverb, MonoToStereo, Maximizer, StereoEnhancer, Compresser and StudioEQ

External FX:
Compressor MJUCjr by Klanghelm

https://soundcloud.com/rockingricky/roc ... goalgetter

Check it out and good luck!

Erich aka Rockingricky

P.S.: So many great tracks this month  , seems to be an exhausting voting tour ... :phew:

Post

Ooops, forgotten :dog:
I used 20 instances of Podolski in Cubase.
The sounds are either made of scratch or are tweaked presets.
