The verdict is in and the federal jury unanimously decided in LZ's favor.

Yeah, I didn't hear much similarity between the two songs; the progressions end differently, and the way the chords are arpeggiated is different in each song. I'm glad the verdict turned out positively for them; I don't think there was enough similarity to even warrant a case of unintentional plaigiarism. STH does, however sound a LOT like Gentle Giant's Nothing At All, which came out a year before LZ's song. But it still could be coincidence.Andywanders wrote:I guess he didn't leave them enough money when he died...the children of Spirit guitarist Randy California (born Randy Craig Wolfe) filed suit against Led Zeppelin for copyright infringement...
I just gave "Taurus" a listen on mp3skull and I don't think there's enough of a similarity personally. Maybe 2 measures of Taurus at the 2 minute mark sound the same as 2 measures of Staiway's intro.
If they win, I think I'll sue every big blues artist because their hit songs have the same chord sequence as a song I wrote when I was 12.

The real news is "Led Zeppelin did not steal anything this time", a million-to-one shot

People are not thinking rationally at all and I proved that LZ ripped off Spirit like 5 years ago.DocAtlas wrote: Yeah, I didn't hear much similarity between the two songs; the progressions end differently, and the way the chords are arpeggiated is different in each song. We had a barbecue, there were 15 people around, I took guitar in my hands and said:"Hear my new song".
I started playing Taurus and everyone jumped and said "cmon, it's a Stairway to heaven rip off".
I knew that nobody heard about Spirit nor Taurus, I was aware of the Taurus vs Stairway to heaven drama and decided to test things out.
But, I'm not dumb like everyone else, if I announced that I'll play Taurus by Spirit which apparently LZ ripped off I knew that everyone would defend LZ and their holly grail of R'n'R music.
I simply changed things chronologically so that it appears that this song is created AFTER the Stairway to heaven and created by me.
I went arguing and defending myself that it's not a rip off, that there are slight changes (the same way people are defending Stairway to heaven) and everyone was like:"Dude, seriously, it can be heard from Mars that it's a rip off".
Rip off, rip off, rip off...I asked:"So, everyone here thinks that it's a rip off?" and they confirmed.
Then I said that it's a song by Spirit which LZ ripped off. They were starring at me in disbelief.
It took them 10-15 seconds to twist the whole thing around and to say:"It's not a rip off, there are differences, it's not quite the same", etc.
That's human psychology for you.
They were shouting how Spirit ripped off LZ while thinking that it was my song 10 seconds earlier
Every single guy out there who plays guitar is free to do what I did.
The only thing that matters is to trick someone's mind that the song is created AFTER the Stairway to heaven so that their mind is comparing it Stairway to heaven, not the other way around.

They should be getting sued over releasing the most ostentatious piece of feces and having the nerve to call it "Rock". "Queen" should be their co-defendant, just choose anything in their catalog.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

pretty sure they stole the bit they stole, even if unconsciously, but as a court case it doesn't stand, it's just a chord progression and it is as old as the hills.
