Hey guys I’m trying to get a really interesting (and I guess quite simple) warm sound for a new song. You can hear this type of sound in some tracks from the 80s I guess and a lot of ambient tracks nowadays :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sEogmAVwTY the first synth, not the lead that comes after
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETzeeeXnQJY 0:07 the first one that comes

I’m pretty much sure I had to work with chorus and distorsion (in Tycho’s song you can clearly hear some distorsion on the synth) and this is my first try with Logic’s FM synth :

I still have plenty of things to improve (especially adding reverb because I didn’t and it helps a lot for this one) on this one but I’d like to get some tips, maybe you know how to make it better ?

Your try sounds pretty decent to me. Try adding the reverb and delay (modulating the delay time if possible with an LFO), and also modulating the pitch (and modulating separate osc's pitches independently). Add a touch of distortion and roll off the high frequencies with an eq or filter.

Chorus can also be good for this kind of thing.

Give that a try and let us know how it goes!
