I see..wow, thats cool! Nice that developers are showing generosity to OSC. In the end of the day it is also good commercial for them since ever OSC contestant will use it for a month :D If it is good of course people will buy it in the end.

I didn't see the 'any synth' challenge. I bet the output from contestants will have an even higher quality.

OSC 60 and OSC 23. There was also a Computer Music Mag Special and an any 2 freeware synth challenge. And a handful of beta synths that later became commercial (e.g. Bazille was in beta).

I am combing thru the web and finding free synths that are both 32-bit and 64-bit are hard. I don't even know what's good or not. To find one that also support AU format at the same time is almost impossible for free synths. I did not list those that I know have already been used before. But here is what I found,

- Mono Fury
- U NO 62
- KERN (seems hopelessly boring :D )
- JuceOPLVSTi
- Kairatune
- Kamioka http://www.g200kg.com/en/software/kamioooka.html
- Xhip http://xhip.net/synth/
- DA Hornet http://nusofting.liqihsynth.com/freeplugins.html
- deputy Mark II http://rekkerd.org/full-bucket-updates- ... in-v1-1-0/

These are a few but I don't know which is good or bad. I simply looked for synths that support 32-bit and 64-bit systems. I found more but some were romplers. Some was not 100% clear if they support 64-bit or not. But there are more out there.

Many of those were already used (not to say they couldn't be used again)...

Thanks! I have a massive list too, but most are very old, synthedit, or windows only. Definitely keep an eye out on:
1) new updates to old classics (especially with mac / linux support)
2) betas
3) 30 Day fully featured trials
3) and new releases (might be worth combing through github for some hidden gems!)

112db Cascade - 60day trial

Thanks BJ! I will keep my eyes open for such synths. I still mainly use 32-bit, all though I have everything for 64-bit as well. But the 32-bit world is still much larger than 64-bit. There are many plugins only for 32-bit. So I don't mind old and/or synthedit.

This one LOOKS really slick :)

Something to look out for.
http://zynaddsubfx.sourceforge.net/roadmap.html

ZynAddSubFX (Zyn for short) has recently been updated to 2.5.4, but alas only linux & osx
However, looking at the roadmap, official windows support will return at 3.0 which will have a imo much needed gui overhaul.

btw I know Zyn has been featured before

New GUI looks nice at first glance! Almost like a new synth ;)
