Hi dear friends,
Would you please help me to mix acoustic guitar in a pop song?
Should I record it in stereo?
If not, how could I create the stereo feeling of strum acoustic guitar?I feel the strum on the Sides not center.
Thank you very much

It depends on your song, on your arrangement, on what you like.

Generally: If the acoustic guitar is the only instrument besides the vocals,
then it can be nice to have it in stereo.

If If the acoustic guitar is one instrument of many - say drums, bass, organ etc. -
then it is better to have the guitar in pure mono.

If you need it in stereo the best way is to play it two times! Or better
many many times and after that choose the best two tracks. But it's
difficult to play, to choose etc. And in most cases acurate audio-editing
is needed. So that the the whole tracks stays mono compatible.

You mean that I record the strum twice, and then pan them left and right?

I need acoustic guitar like "Creation" by Seven Lion.

As mentioned previously, if you want a really wide stereo image I expect you probably want to double track (i.e. record the guitar part twice) to pan left and right. Lots of good information on recording and mixing acoustic guitar here:

Some examples of the sound from different microphone techniques here:

Good luck!

I ALWAYS record using two microphones and make it stereo.
Generally, not a hard, left-right pan, just wide enough to sound like a natural space.

The two mics allow for capturing the body and near the neck for some detail and depth.

I believe he means he switches off the direct signal in the Waves Doubler.

So I'm digging the use of Waves Douber, BUT one thing I learned the hard way about this plug is that it sums the left and right. So if you use the stereo version of this plug you will not have a true hard left and hard right. For this reason I use the multi-mono version of this plugin all the time. In doing so, I mute the direct signal on each side and only use one of the Douber parameters on each side.

Therefore you have a True Left and a True Right that doesn't blend into each other. That will help you get a Wider Image. ALSO... if you have Waves ADT... Do that same with it. Multi-Mono (because it sums also) and add a little tweak to it and you will have a beautiful wide image with your guitar.
