Oh also, I just looked at temps with lm_sensors in the live environment, and it reports the CPU is sitting at around 66 C (with a max of 80 C probably when running mprime). It's crit temperature is 98 C though, so it shouldn't be throttling yet haha.

P.S. I'm thinking I don't have any blown capacitors, as all the simptoms I've looked up involve crashes, hangs, nonbooting systems, etc, not general slowdowns. I'm still going to check, but I'm thinking I may have no idea what's going on here.

If you had blown caps, I reckon it'd be a bit more obvious. Everything you've reports seems fine on the surface, I'm as equally confused as you are by this. At this point I'd strip it down on a bench and remove as much as possible, then swap bits in and out, trying to recreate the issue at each switch out, until it finally goes. Not likely to be a quick job however, by the sound of it currently.
