Why not post a link, like evryone else does? You shouldn't make us work if you want our feedback.

1) copy the link from your SoundCloud page directly into the kvr editor,

or

2) use the url_link_goes_here,

or

3) Plain and simple text tag.

:tu:

EDIT:
I see you've managed! :D

Yes it seems the forum engine needed the old www. in order to pick it up

In general I think this is quite good. There are some nice melodic motifs. Some of them seem incongruously placed, by which I mean there may be some fast trance thing running at the same time as what sounds like a more dreamy, Tangerine dream-like slow synth line. Maybe you are throwing too many elements in at the same time rather than focusing a certain sound in one stage of the track then clearly transitioning into another.

In general, somehow your drum sounds just seem wrong to me. In the worst cases, they sound a bit like the auto-drum parts you get with some keyboards. But even when the rhythm seems right, the actual timbre of the sound somehow seems wrong.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Edit: n/m. I made a bunch of mix suggestions from my listen on headphones last night, which I'm not really feeling apply now I'm listening on speakers.

Some of the synth sounds could use some of the harsher frequencies being cut (try setting an EQ on boost, then sweeping through the entire sound for horrible frequencies, then cutting them back a bit so it sounds better when played loud), and the reverb on the clap could use tweaking. Other than that, the mix felt a bit "by the numbers" but it reminded me a bit of Robert Miles which I'm guessing is the kind of vibe you were going for.

The bass still feels a little bit overcooked, I'm not sure. This isn't really my kind of music so take it with a pinch of salt.

That was regarding Helium.

Trance All Night I enjoyed a lot more, I felt it was more musically sophisticated and the mix sounds better. In this one, as opposed to Helium, you have more of a foreground/background thing going on. In Helum everything felt like it was on the top layer, right in your face. So if you want my recommendation, don't be afraid to push some elements back with lower volume and more reverb, like you did in TAL.

Thanks for the feedback. Its hard mixing through tv speakers haha!
In the headphones, there seemed to be enough separation of the various layers, and believe it or not there is reverb on many parts, though I tend to limit its level, preferring to get depth from delays.
I want that in-your-face sound, however I suppose I should use more separation when all the elements are playing, but thats too complex and fiddly for my simple approach to making music :phones:

Yes, it's a good ideal to gradually push elements back as they pile up with multiple layers. It IS a pain in the arse, but with a bit of automation of the mix level and reverb send, it can be worth it.

You're doing really well considering you've got no real monitoring solution besides TV speakers!

Don't use the URL tag, for Soundcloud and Youtube directly paste the link without additional tags so the forum can replace it with the embedded code like this:

https://soundcloud.com/adamevansmusic/helium
https://soundcloud.com/adamevansmusic/above-clouds
https://soundcloud.com/adamevansmusic/trance-all-night

You should use more (volume) automation which can also help to "prepare" the next part (upriser/filter automation) etc. The pad can sound a bit boring after some time... you can try to use a bit sidechain compression ("ducking") with some of the known tools.
The composition is good. There is a structure, there is a hook etc. It's more about finetuning and find some more (not so generic) sounds, some interesting fill-elements and all this stuff.

Thanks guys for the feedback.
Will heed the soundcloud link requirements. Sidechaining, volume automation, erghhh!!! Thats someone elses job lol. My vision is for nice catchy tunes without too many headaches :)
