Can't get education discount on Spitfire Chamber Strings

Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem trying to buy Chamber Strings with the educational discount.
I applied for the ed discount a couple of days ago but Spitfire customer support told me they are having technical issues applying discounts on this product and to try again on the 1st of August...which is the day the the introductory offer ends, meaning the price will go up by £137 on that day.
I've asked if they can preserve the introductory price for me since they aren't able to give me the discount advertised, but haven't had a response yet.
Is anyone else in the same boat/do you have any advice? I'm a bit disappointed as Spitfire seem like an honest company but this feels almost like (albeit probably unintentional) false advertising.

There's nothing-else you can do. Just wait for Spitfire to sort it out. All companies have technical problems now and then, and Spitfire has a good reputation, so there is no real reason to suspect false advertising.
Let us know when / how it gets resolved for you.

Yeah, I don't suspect any of it is intentional. Still, missing the intro offer because of a technical problem on their end would really suck.
It will be nice if they honour the current price they're offering, but I guess I'll just have to wait and hope!

Not that I'm aware of - on the Chamber Strings page it says it's eligible, and they didn't say anything about that over email, only that they couldn't apply it because of a technical issue that they're working on.jsp1979 wrote:I thought the Spitfire educational discount always applied to the MSRP and couldn't be applied to sale prices.
I could be mistaken.
It's looking like nothing else will happen now as they didn't answer about whether they'll preserve the intro price until they sort this out, and the offer ends Monday noon.
I'd've hoped for slightly better service from Spitfire - hopefully they'll manage these technical discount issues better in future!

I did some digging and I may have been thinking of Cinesamples (which doesn't allow you to stack edu discount with sales).
EDIT: Spitfire has definitely disabled edu discounts in the past for big sales.
See post here: http://vi-control.net/community/threads ... st-3914903
I'm not sure if that includes intro prices though or if that policy has changed.

Thanks for that link jsp.
Not entirely sure whether they're doing the same thing here or if it's just a technical issue. If they are it seems like a misleading thing to do to list it as being eligible for the ed discount..

it certainly looks like the reduced price still qualifies to me:

EDIT:
But I didn't notice this before:

The educational discount applies to the RRP of a product, so you can’t get an educational discount on bundles, bundle exclusive products, or products that are already discounted.

That's definitely what I'd take from that page. However they've just emailed me back saying the educational discount is only available for the full RRP product - seems jsp was right.DarkStar wrote:it certainly looks like the reduced price still qualifies to me:

I've done a bit of digging through their website and they do actually say this on a blog entry about the discount:
http://www.spitfireaudio.com/blog/education-discounts/
although there's no mention of it on the educational page itself.
It seems it's just a case of poorly organised information on their site. Still it's very disappointing when you see a price and an ad for 30% off and are then told you can't get that!
I'll request that they put this information on the actual educational discount page and hopefully no one else will get disappointed!
